I absolutely could not disagree more with this absurd, and dangerous statement. You fail (predictably) to factor in the political bias of players being "pushed" towards TA. The coaches are even more easily influenced at TA, and a lot of kids who had no business being there, ended up there. **There absolutely have been some very deserving players who went to TA, and those players did very well, despite the teams around them.
The Timbers do not, and have not ever cared about development. The blame lies squarely on the Timbers. Oregon has the talent... maybe not as much as other larger metropolitan areas, but they absolutely have the talent to be more than competitive as MLS. Anybody with kids 2006 and older know the truth.
Instead of hating and deflecting, you should demand more of this slightly above average MLS club. It is not acceptable at all that they have marginalized their Academy and Oregon's youths. Keep lying...more and more people are seeing the truth.
Truth serum, didn't go down very well for this parent.

clown. Don’t blame a professional organization for the reason youth soccer isn’t as good as it should be here. If it isn’t in their business model, or in their coaches plan to bring up young players, it is their prerogative.
Is it a good business plan? Probably not especially compared to other MLS clubs. But MLS clubs aren’t made for kids, they are professional organizations with one thing in mind: winning and making money. All of you who watch the Timbers play week-in, week-out should know that Gio prefers veterans with experience.
Maybe under new ownership or a new head coach things will change. But now just sound like whiny b****.

Timbers looked like trash yesterday at the Benz. Lot of players hurt, but still... that was embarassing.
Given the lack of action on the management front, it almost makes me think that Don Garber has told MP to sell (and to not make any major moves; let the new owner do that) but is trying to keep it on the down low so he can get a decent price. I hope so.
Would be a shame (ed: no it wouldn't) were Failson given the Dell Loy Hansen treatment and forced into a fire sale of the team.

Sounds like the previous poster struck a nerve. Oh, and correct me if I am wrong....hasn't the Timbers been involved (if not dominated) youth soccer in Oregon for the past 12 years? Seems awful strange to now say "Don't blame a professional organization for the reason youth soccer isn't as good as it should around here." OYSA, Timbers Alliance, ODP....shall I go on? By all means continue the company line and spewing the propaganda." (The election was stolen!) I agree with the previous poster....If you have a red rubber nose, walk in size 22 shoes, wear a polka dot outfit, and in any way attempt to defend the apathetic Timbers Organizstion....then you are a shill....and a clown. Good evening azz hat.

I have the time, so I will take it.
Even though OR is a small soccer state, there are there still many clubs in the state of Oregon. There are close to 20 in the greater Portland area alone (could be more). Did the Timbers appoint all of their staff and develop all curriculum? Did the Timbers tell all of those clubs exactly how to develop their own players? I don’t think so unless you can provide a source proving otherwise?
ODP is a joke. It’s not necessary for any top players. Most states in the US stopped worrying about ODP when the DA started in 2007. Oregon parents are literally 16 years behind by worrying about it. No one talks about ODP. College coaches don’t care about ODP. None. Zilch. Nada. So feel free to keep blaming the Timbers for killing already-dead roadkill. Seriously you clown, look at the current TA teams. Actually look at how many players came from an ODP setting that they were recruited to the TA from? None.
it’s not OYSA’s job to develop talent, they simply provide the platforms like leagues and state cup for clubs to use. Everyone knows OYSA has had scummies hanging around both pre and post Timbers partnership.
Question…where did I defend the Timbers? Did I not say that it wasn’t a smart business plan? Buts not the job of any club to develop talent anywhere. The best clubs utilize the resource though.
Please stop having arguments with yourself. You’re arguing points that were never made and just sound angry. I bet the vein in the side of your neck was popping out while typing this. Maybe your jaw is clenched right now? Loosen it dude. It’s Sunday night.

Tell me you are Timber's Academy apologizer, without telling me you are a Timber's Academy apologizer." Go on....I'm waiting.
You started off your first rant with "Clown. (Rather aggressive, but the usual go to move for a keyboard warrior like yourself) Don't blame aprofessional organization for the reason youth soccer isn't as good as it should be here." So yes, you defended the TA from the start.
I would rather argue with myself because at least then I would be arguing with a person of intelligence and an informed opinion.. .But I am not. I am wasting time with a Timber's shill who knows (or should know) that Oregon Soccer has been severely impeded by the influence of Timbers. It is honestly that simple. It is not arguable.
The funny thing is, you listed ALL of the things that the Timbers had (HAD) their hands on and turned to shyte, and instead of owning that the Timber's apathy caused the problem, you instead blame the clubs... the coaches.. .come on tough guy, why not just blame the kids? GTFO of here with your BS. You may have an opinion, but that does not mean you are correct.
Oh...Sawyer Jura. TA 2006. Played ODP with the 2005B to TA. Azzhat.

Oh...Sawyer Jura. TA 2006. Played ODP with the 2005B to TA. Azzhat.
Feelings, insults, zero facts. Listed one single ODP player. Well done.
Fitting the stereotype of the classic parent or coach that can’t take responsibility for any decisions they make for their kids or players. There are plenty of other markets where MLS academies have strong-armed local clubs, and local clubs have still found a way to thrive and produce high quality players. You are just plain wrong, and doubling down with ad hominem attacks and spineless insults isn’t going to change that fact.
TA seems to be slowly improving... SJ is getting minutes with the USYNT and played in the recent CONCACAF tournament with the U17s.
OTOH, their handling of the 2005 class was piss-poor. I'll leave alone the question of selection (with BB's involvement, the process was corrupt from Day One)... but the attitude they seemed to take is "none of you will ever be good enough to play up top in the pros; so we're going to train you to be defenders". Of course, in the pro level defense is also a specialty, rather than being treated like a second-class role like so many youth coaches like to do.

Hmmmmm....that was your takeaway? Do share the other academies/clubs that have produced high quality players. What qualifies as a high quality player in your opinion? You seem to absolve the TA of any all responsibility to develop high quality players, and instead blame the clubs? Real talk, you have already established that the Timbers have no interest in an academy and therefore are not vested in doing anything with it, right? However, MLS requires they have an academy. So, clubs should be the ones responsible for the apathetic performance of TA? Is that what you are saying? Of course you could always fall back on the "oregon soccer sucks" argument and blame the kids....

2nd sentence…You can do the research on your own time.
2nd ?…highest echelons of NCAA D1 (not just getting an offer, but actually playing and making an impact) and/or professional.
3rd ?….You didn’t read well enough. I didn’t absolve TA, I absolved ANY PRO ORGANIZATION from the responsibility of focusing on youth development as a cornerstone of their business model if they don’t think it’s in their best interest as a business.
4th/5th ?…. You didn’t read well enough. There isn’t a single time where anyone mentions or even suggests that “it’s the clubs responsibility for TAs apathetic performance”. Stop creating narratives that were never stated just to bend the argument in your direction. It’s not a good look.
Last sentence….You didn’t read well enough. None of the more recent post that you have responded to have said that “Oregon soccer sucks”. It’s only stated that Oregon soccer isn’t as good as it should be, which is pretty apparent for a place that self-proclaims to have “Soccer City USA”.
you said “real talk” but none of your thousand questions were real. Disingenuous and dishonest. Just like the Timbers ownership. You are a lot more like MP and GW than you realize. Two sides of the same coin.
