Ok, name local home grown players that have a contract with the Timbers? Prove me wrong or are you full of your quick cute responses which actually I find quite amusing so who’s the comedian now?

Correct, Rubio was not in academy and was a Westside player
Farfan at Dallas was in TA, contract with Timbers but basically sat on bench for 3 years then traded to LA and now starter at Dallas.
Not many local success stories for rationale that TA is a pathway to be a professional. Low statistics!

Even look at T2 roster for Timbers, I don’t think any are local and from TA.

There’s a handful on T2 but not many most supplement outside recruits.

Very simple math here, when the very best of the best difference maker club players all leave their local club and ascend to the MLS Next TA club team, there are visible consequences .

Most noteworthy is the overall decline in the standard of play in both HS and local club play for over a decade now.

What you fail to digest for some reason is the TA side is the best level of Oregon club soccer, they are the top shelf while the leftover local clubs battle it out for the title of a diatant 2nd best.

                This is Oregon.

Are you saying Oregon is just bad?

I am curious….who decides that the kids selected for the TA are the “best of the best”? You? The TA? What matrix are you/the TA using to select these players? Judging by the mass exodus your after year from the TA, I am not sure you want to validate their selections. The real situation is that local clubs don’t define a pathway for players. Sure they offer showcases that attract college scouts, but mostly it is up to the player/parents to provide outside opportunities that provide exposure. The TA dangles the cloud castle of the MLS to suck players into their programs, but it comes with restriction that don’t allow players to explore other opportunities. As far as I know the clubs don’t restrict players from expanding their experiences, opportunities or even from playing other sports.

Let’s not even talk about some kids doing on-line school at the TA facility aka converted warehouse or the fact that no one can even watch a TA practice? What is that all about?

MLS' shift from Geographic Boundary restrictions will be disastrous for TA unless they quickly pour resources into the program. There isn't enough talent in OR to support TA, they will need to import talent. Unfortunately there is ZERO incentive for an out of state player to join TA.

09's in the program have locked themselves into a very bad situation.

The best talent will flee before TA can put them on the list.

It's been this way ever since they opened the door to the TA in PDX. Prior to the TA , the prodigious area clubs were producing D1 players and many Pros. That trend or data point came to a litereal dead stop with the inception of the the TA in 2012. Only 1 real outlier in the last 10 years is the defender from Grant HS and Indiana U who is sticking for the time being in the MLS. Which is a shame. Someone else posted is Oregon really just that bad, at this time the question answers itself.

I absolutely could not disagree more with this absurd, and dangerous statement. You fail (predictably) to factor in the political bias of players being "pushed" towards TA. The coaches are even more easily influenced at TA, and a lot of kids who had no business being there, ended up there. **There absolutely have been some very deserving players who went to TA, and those players did very well, despite the teams around them.

The Timbers do not, and have not ever cared about development. The blame lies squarely on the Timbers. Oregon has the talent... maybe not as much as other larger metropolitan areas, but they absolutely have the talent to be more than competitive as MLS. Anybody with kids 2006 and older know the truth.

Instead of hating and deflecting, you should demand more of this slightly above average MLS club. It is not acceptable at all that they have marginalized their Academy and Oregon's youths. Keep lying...more and more people are seeing the truth.
