The $7.00 subsidized fees are a gift. If I were a taxpayer I would be outraged that I was paying for the ability of so few to utilize turf.
Something is off here? Turf is a scarse commodity and if it were subject to market supply and demand the cost would be considerably more and there would be a far more open process to obtain use.
Yes, WST and THUSC have a good deal at a reduced rate. They both guarantee year around field rental. Per hour, their cost is lower, but they make up for it by keeping the fields constantly paid for. This is where the cost comes in. If you check, field costs are similar across all the clubs. Go find out... they are all non profits, their tax filings are public record. Put your money where your accusations are.
Oh, and we are talking about Aloha. They may be within the BSD boundaries, but few of them are actually in the taxable THPRD district.

A list of what is wrong with OR soccer:
* Too many conflicts of interest
* The OPL league, that is run by club DOC's is a joke.
* OYSA that is run by monkey's that could not organize anything and are always too busy fighting with OPL
* Two state championships
* WST having people on their board that are involved with THPRD
* Portland Timbers partnering with all the adidas clubs but have no idea how the clubs are ran.
Anyone care to add some more?
You stupid people think all these coaches should work for free? Do you work for free? Board members donate hundreds of hours for FREE to keep these clubs running. Each club has a few staff coaches, who's full-time job is to coach kids and manage the coaches. These people should work for free because you say so? Stupid. Again, how about you work for free. How much time do you donate? Idiots.
The real issue on the West side is WSM and WSW. They have been trying to force THUSC out for years. They have a strangle hold on every board on the West side. It's ridiculous and wrong how much influence they have on controlling field use.

However, this is not true for all, albeit a minority but a minority that causes the majority of the problems and work for their ego.

Also remember soccer shares the fields with lacrosse and football. Being a non-profit doesn't mean well spent money or small salaries and/or expenses. Just that it doesn't earn a profit.
Yes, with the boards Denny is on and affiliations, there are clear conflicts of interest.
Facts are facts. Move on along friend of Denny supporter. This really is simple to understand.

My comments are about clubs in general and I referenced Vancouver and Seattle.
I don't have exact numbers. I gave ranges and they are accurate. You prove me wrong if you're so inclined.
$7.00 per hour for turf is absurdly low and the cost is being subsidized by the taxpayers.
You all can fight about "who" I'm just saying that if you all follow the dollars alot will be revealed.

doesn't anyone find it strange that a public entity is allowed to "contract" with a private non-profit entity?
Isn't there an inherint conflict when public funds build and maintain a facility yet the very public that is paying for the fields are not allowed to use them because of contracted use agreements?
Akin to waiting at a max stop and being told you can't ride the train because the Timbers have rented all the trains for Timbers fans for the day.

What was he paid $50,000 for? My daughter is only 10 so we are brand new to club soccer. I assumed board members were volunteers? No?
