Kick and run only goes so far. At higher levels, possession, skill, and intelligent play rule the game. So, kick and run all you want. Win the lower level games and watch coaches teaching that style of soccer limit your child's success.
If you're child is at a club that plays this way, you should find a new club.

This was the quote that I was replying to:

This person thinks the LO and FC style will do better in California. I was questioning their results in California.

The Sherwood girls have accomplished alot with what they have had to work with and they are looking more like a good "all around" team. But all teams have some weaknesses. Just seems the ones with less win more games.
Next year is next year, and I too think it will be challenge to keep that team together.

They are still losing to Sherwood. Are you telling me they are not that skilled or not that smart yet ? Is it Sherwood's fault that your team still can't defend the big ball ? At U13 they should be able to do this by now.
This style that you are referring to is so great yet last year, I think LO and FC had a combined total of one state cup on the girl's side.
What is up with soccer people ? Player's mess up and I hear someone yelling "unlucky". A player does a throw in that never gets in bounds and they get to redo it. A team loses and the parents complain that the other team plays the boot ball. To me that is good strategy on Sherwood's part since they know that you can't defend the big ball. Yet you question their intelligence. What is Sherwood's record vs. your team ?

Kick and run works at lower levels. It also stunts player development. So enjoy the wins while you can at U13/14, when they count the least.

I think it's all they have been taught and when going up against better competition it just won't work.
