So please tell me when was the last time your possession game at FC or LO have beaten a California team ? Yet you can guarantee it is better.

Never said that. Who is talking about CA? Just saying that it is working now against the teams mentioned earlier. I only know what has happened. Evidently you know what will happen. Give the Sherwood ladies their respect.

Thank you for this. Perfectly said. Evidently the original poster has this idea that even though LO has never beaten Sherwood, and FC has not defeated them in 3 years, only a couple of ties, they could still beat CA teams.

Kick and run only goes so far. At higher levels, possession, skill, and intelligent play rule the game. So, kick and run all you want. Win the lower level games and watch coaches teaching that style of soccer limit your child's success.

If you're child is at a club that plays this way, you should find a new club.

Yes, they beat the 3 lower teams in the division. Oh yeah, and that Oregon team was LO...the team you talk so highly of.

I think you misinterpreted my reply. I am on your side with regards to giving the Sherwood team some respect.

This was the quote that I was replying to:

"I can guarantee you that the possession game would do much better in California than the boot ball game. LO and FC without a doubt play a much better game than Sherwood"

This person thinks the LO and FC style will do better in California. I was questioning their results in California.

I agree. But the conversation started with a debate between the 3 teams. Head to head records do not lie, but you are basing your argument over what will be in the future, not the present.

The Sherwood girls have accomplished alot with what they have had to work with and they are looking more like a good "all around" team. But all teams have some weaknesses. Just seems the ones with less win more games.

Next year is next year, and I too think it will be challenge to keep that team together.

Yes. Reread it...and replied. They can be fun to watch at times, but it will catch up to them. They added a few new girls this year too which seems to have helped some. They do have a couple of girls who they rely on. But I guess the only team that really is complete at every position is ONYX.

And your child plays at this higher level ?

They are still losing to Sherwood. Are you telling me they are not that skilled or not that smart yet ? Is it Sherwood's fault that your team still can't defend the big ball ? At U13 they should be able to do this by now.

This style that you are referring to is so great yet last year, I think LO and FC had a combined total of one state cup on the girl's side.

What is up with soccer people ? Player's mess up and I hear someone yelling "unlucky". A player does a throw in that never gets in bounds and they get to redo it. A team loses and the parents complain that the other team plays the boot ball. To me that is good strategy on Sherwood's part since they know that you can't defend the big ball. Yet you question their intelligence. What is Sherwood's record vs. your team ?

Kick and run works at lower levels. It also stunts player development. So enjoy the wins while you can at U13/14, when they count the least.

In this age group you will never be better then #2 unless you are good enough to play for Onyx or you can recruit the Onyx team to your club.

And WSM has been working hard on this one...

Sherwood has a good group of girls and are a good team. I do tend to think they play the long ball way too much as well though. I watched part of the Sherwood-Onyx game and saw they were doing the same thing vs Onyx and it wasn't yielding any results so I don't think it is just simply "good strategy". I think it's all they have been taught and when going up against better competition it just won't work.

OK. Agreed, but answer the question. What is your teams record against Sherwood?
