Westview won 6-1. Controlled game. Too bad one of beaverton's best players may be out on an injuries. went off early in the second half and never came back.

The Oregon city girls looked tough against Canby. I hear that most were on the classic fireball team years ago. I remember those girls being very mean.

JHS 4 - Aloha 1
An interesting game to watch, the game was much closer than it appears. Tied 1-1 in the first half, it stayed that way until late in the second half when JHS scored 2 goals and on a PK. An enthusiastic, if not particularly knowledgeable, Aloha supporters were in full voice. I did enjoy their support of he team. After watching Metro league games for over 9 years now, I feel that the crew of 3 officials were the worst yet. The PK awarded to JHS late in the game on a play in the box by an Aloha player was clearly and obviously a foul. Not a nasty or dirty play by the Aloha player, just a foul from aggressive play. The refs conferred at length about the play before not really even signalling a PK. A blind possum could have made the call from the opposite end line. The AR closest to the crowd continually camped just on the field of play while curiously defining balls in or out of play. The AR opposite had an unusual sense of offsides for both teams. The center ref was just bad for both teams.
The Aloha team had many bright spots, notably at GK. Not a great kicker, she made many excellent plays under great pressure. Several Aloha players showed good speed. Hopefully, Aloha players will get some club play after the season as they will improve significantly. If they do, they will do well next year in the Metro league.
JHS started well and then played down to Aloha's skill level and were then unable to really turn it on later in the game. The late goals were a direct result of JHS non-starters making the plays, players the coach didn't seem to use until after an hour of play. JHS had many passes tangentially to the goal in the final third rather than towards a runner. The JHS GK situation seems odd to me. One GK is very good size, the other average size. They usually split play equally. The taller GK allows most of the goals against JHS whereas the other rarely does. Last night was typical, the taller GK made an obvious mistake and Aloha scored on it. The other GK only played the last 5-6 minutes of the match. JHS won't go far in the play-offs in my opinion with the taller of the two GK's in the box.
In summary, good game Aloha, much less so by JHS.

Good Win for WL
West Linn won 2-0 over Clackamas last night at WL. Good win to keep the Lions in the TRL race with goals coming from two Sophomores. Hopefully, this gives them good momentum to go through the rest of their league schedule.

Southridge
was just plain bad last night. few decent moments, but overall threatened the box maybe 3-4 times only. our coach didn't even bother coaching or make any adjustments, especially dealing with the speed that Sunset had. could have been worst score.

Southridge was not just bad but they stunk it up. That coach appears to have people in the wrong positons

Jesuit dd not play well last night but credit Aloha as well- they were aggressive and motivated. I only remember one shot on goal other than the mixup from Aloha.
Agreed with ref assessment- simply dreadful unfortunately.

The taller GK is much better. The backup and the subs who came in once the game was well in hand are not starters and do not get equal minutes now that league has started. Aoha goal came on a defensive mistake not keeper error.

The subs came in with the game not in hand, but tied.
Errors happen and most goals begin well before they even reach the goalkeeper. They are the last line of defense and yes they should make good and important saves, but if you actually watch the run of play you will see that goals happen well before they are in the back of the net. Goalkeepers are allowed to have crummy nights like everyone else. They are just scrutinized more because its the last person you see before a goal is scored and they don't touch the ball or shouldn't as much as field players. Forwards, mids, wings, and defenders screw up all the time but they get many touches on the ball so people don't remember as much.
There are many good keepers in Oregon right now. Some are huskier or taller or shorter. They all have great characteristics and each have a diff style of play based on what attributes work for them. But calling out a goalkeeper when its a team sport, not cool.

I agree with you you can see goals coming long before they happen!
I am a bit confused though wasn't this game 4-1 in favor of Jesuit? I didn't see the game, but if that was the result then why is there any discussion about the one goal? Or do I have the score wrong?
