        Wow.... Very clever.

The kick-around is still tonight (Monday). 7:30pm. Field #2 at Tualatin Hills Rec Center, 158th and Walker.

I think you have to add playing time to this list as well. If you are on a great team, with great coach and great teammates but you are not getting the playing time, you will probably look for a team that can offer you more playing time.

Also, since coach is number 1 of the list. Let's hear about the coaches at this age group. LO & WSM are getting new coaches. Are they any good? THUSC, TM, FCP & SSC are keeping their coaches. If your daughter has been playing for these coaches, what is you input? This info would be helpful to have going into tryouts.

Someone obviously doesn't want players going to other kick arounds and would rather them and their parents waste time at a cancelled scrimmage setup by Westside? Very mature indeed.

My DD is a first timer at trying out for more than one club. So, what is proper ettiquette for splitting the tryout? Should we notify the Club she is going to the second night that she won't be there the first tryout or just let them know when we get there on night two. Should we tell the night one club that we won't be back tomorrow?

                Keep trying.

WSM is still on. Not going anywhere. What are you afraid of?

If you put the work in already and have attended practices then there is a good chance if they want your daughter they will make you a offer after the first session. If not then you might be careful how you handle the situation. Remember this goes on every year so just be honest and look out for your child.

Be open about it. Some coaches will not like it and will make take-it or leave-it demands. Not sure you should care. However, many first teams will make their decisions immediately after the first night so... I know they like to say they don't but I can assure you they do.

What other kick arounds? And isn't the scrimmage at WSM only for girls that have made a decision and are trying out at metros? So it is "Open" to those that have registered if I am not mistaken

Open to anyone. If you catch the coaches eye might be a good thing. Wsm is pretty solid team, so if you want to play with the best and train with the best, that might be a good option. At this age that's important in terms of skill development. thusc is another good option as well. I think as a parent you have to look at the level of all the players on your team and ask, is my daughter getting pushed and challenged by the players that she'll be training with every week? if the practices are hard and the players are going at each other each day, then that's the environment you want her to be in. I think the Wsm team will provide that and that's why my daughter is going to try out there.

So, if we are to believe that Westside is getting a ton of players coming over to try out, then some of the existing Westside players should be getting plenty nervous. Starters getting relegated to bench, bench getting cut, .... If they are so solid, then why would a starter on a different team go there? And WSM moms and dads, do you really know which girls the coach might be looking to upgrade? It could be your daughter and you don't know it. She going to enjoy riding the bench while these new comers start and get the playing time she used to get?

And if you are a player who is trying out with them, or any other team for that matter, you better know where that coach is with respect to your daughter. He may offer her a spot, and in your mind it is as a starter, but in his mind it is as a bench player. And if she's sitting there on the bench with six or seven other girls, you might have to wonder how much playing time she is going to get. And will the coach really care about the development of the non-starters? They care about the wins, not whether the 14th player on the team became a better defender. You might want to think about these things.

This is the harsh reality of competitive soccer at any big club. You may be on the A team one year and find yourself on the B team the next. It happens all the time. This is why it's never a bad idea to tryout at a couple clubs and give yourself options.

                              Thank you.

You just described the difference between wanting to be and play for the best and everyone else.

So if you are afraid of the challenge expressed above, stay home. But if you want something special, I am sure you will be welcome.

You should read the story of Icarus. This appears to be your first time through the rodeo so good luck little fella.
