So if you are afraid of the challenge expressed above, stay home. But if you want something special, I am sure you will be welcome.
So, when your daughter gets cut, will you still feel this way? ROFL

Don't worry, I'm sure there will be spots left at some of those inferior teams. LOL

            WSM practice scrimage tonight

The SSC and Rage forwards were both in attendance and trying out for WSM.

Is this amount of movement normal for the U13 into the U14 year? Or is this year excessively high? Seems like a lot of players are scattering all over looking for greener pastures. This "normal"?

Players want to try and be settled before the giant move at u-15. U-14 is almost always a large change.

The 15-17 years for girls is critical. Division 1 schools are done for the most part with recruiting by the end of the sophomore year for girls. This means that they are being scouted throughout their freshmen (u15) and sophomore (u16) years.

At u15 a lot of clubs are no longer competitive or do not offer programs so you'll seed about 40-80 girls moving around clubs. Due to this massive change, it usually smart to make the team you are wanting to play for in High School at u-14 so you have a higher likely hood of staying on the team in the critical years.

Expect a ton of movement this year and next. The move is nothing person, it's the nature of the beast.

So, let me get this straight. Aside for the current 16-18 girls that just won a State Cup. WSM is picking up the starting forwards from SSC & TM as well as an LO defender and probably others. So, there will be some girls getting cut or getting less playing time, right? Not my opinion just doing the math. So, doesn't that mean there will be a handful of girls over the summer leaving WSM? How do you keep 20 girls within your club, happy to be on a B team or getting less playing time with the A team?

OPL, NWCL, Invitationals, Nationals, at least 11 in ODP... There is plenty of playing time to go around.

Gee, the plan works on paper but in reality, not so much. Clearly there are a few (probably one) overzealous WSM parent(s) who only see the world through their eyes but have no clue how the other parents, much less the coach, sees it. Reality has been lost on this parent. Cuts are coming later this week, be prepared. The WSM parents that I know have said that they have some parents who haven't really thought this through very well. Parents want to see their kids playing in the big games, however Mr. Coach isn't going to be playing players 14-20 in the big games. So, that $1000 of travel you just paid along with your weekend being shot all resulted in your daughter getting 10 minutes a game in the easy games, but riding the pine in the competitive games. Better make sure your daughter isn't player number 14 or above in the coaches eyes. Better to save all of that money and instead go watch her at practice because that's when you are going to see her play.

I totally agree. Even if 14-20 are close to 1-14 they are not going to see the field much. At best 30% play time.. This does not help develop players. Say what you want about training with the best. The kids need game time.

Really, I have to ask, Why do you even care?

I am pretty sure that most parents can make a decision that is what they determine best for their child. As usual this just comes across as jealousy and nothing more.

Every age group has teams like this where many players flock to.

U-12 - I bet a lot of kids will flock to Thusc Onyx, yet they are in the same boat when they go there.

U-14 - These age group seems to be an anomaly as I do not see one team where all the kids head to in this age group. If I had to pick one it would be the Defeeters, but that hasnt worked so well for them.

U-15 - THUSC Sodium has always been the team after U12 that most the kids started heading to. They have kids coming from all over.

U-16 - Ireland team - I dont say THUSC or SSC in this one because this team has played for both and the kids have headed to wherever this team was.

In all the situations above kids headed there when they were already a stacked team. Kids at the bottom had to decide whether they wanted to stay or not, etc. It will all pan out and each kid will stay or move on based upon what they want, not what someone thought on a forum thread.

Bottom line - Give it a rest and let the kids, parents, and tryout process determine it all.

Actually Onyx seems to be having the opposite problem. Kids (or parents) think they can't make the team so they aren't going to bother trying out there. :(
