I don't think a lot of parents knew that if your child was cut initially, but you complained loud enough, your child was also given a "special solo try-out" and then magically made picked for the final pool.

You are correct. In fact the tourneys that you go to will have both A & B ranked teams that play each other respectfully.

It is also common that just cause your DD makes it on the A team at the first tourney, they might not be on it again the rest of the season. She might look great at practice and scrimmages, but another from the B team played better at the games.

Then only the top 18 go to regional camp. No back door acceptance. They are either rostered or not.

I agree. From the information we have received the coach will make an A and a B team. The evenly divided teams were for Eugene only. The two tournaments coming up will help pick the top 18 '98 players (remember '99s cannot go to regional camp).

And this was where a flawed process goes even further in terms invalidating the process.

No need to travel to other areas to try-out. Just show up to a training session you weren't selected for and BEG, PLEAD, and whine........until they give you, and you alone, what you didn't initially earn.

but all that does is get you on the local regional pool. you still have to make it thru the sub-regional tourney and onto the state team pool. so what would be the point ? paying money to train with the selected group, pay more money to go to the tourney, then not make it there ? either your player has it on the first day, shows it and get selected or she's too close to the border. if thats the case, why not take the money you were about to spend, find a good trainer and develop those skills further, so that next year they will show and be selected first round ?

How did the sub-regional tourney go in Eugene last weekend ? Any dark horses appear from down south and make the final cut ? With most of the teams in the Southern part of the state not playing in the OPL, you just dont get to see them until that weekend.

                  Eugene practice

No amazing talent down South. Surprisingly rough Bend girls. North has a ton of talent. Willamette goalie looks great. Fast strikers. Lots of Usonians but they deserve to be there. I think this 98 team will turn some heads

                  Just my opinion...

So...you have to be a 98 to go to regional camp? Is this info posted somewhere?

Calm down lady. You must be from Thusc too. This whole situation has made Thusc look like a joke. Don't worry, everyone saw and heard the same things I heard. The truth hurts at first, but can actually bring good things. Embrace it!
