Any one know how many 99's there are on the state roster for 98 girls and boys?

I know of at least six 99s that made the state team for the 98 girls from the Portland teams.

I am pretty sure all five WV girls are '98

I can only think of 4, 2 from Onyx, 2 from Sherwood. Who am I missing?

What good is controlling the game 90% of the time if you can't score and complete the job.
As a mother of an older keeper, I am glad that this was posted. It's amazing how when the offence misses it's always "good job or unlucky" but when defense lets one in, its always their fault.

I don't think anyone ever said the Northern pool was really strong so I don't see the big deal. I think the only point was that it was easier to make the Willamette pool since there is a limited number of girls trying out there compared to the 100+ Portland area. Its no secret and to be honest trying out in the Willamette area allowed many of those girls to make it to this tournament who otherwise wouldn't of so it was a smart decsion.

I don't think anyone blamed the Northern pool 1 defense for the loss. I believe they said it was a defensive mistake. Mistakes happen everywhere on the field. Both Northern teams dominated the game but couldn't put the ball in the back of the net enough times. That is very typical for soccer. The best team doesn't always win.

Congrats to all the girls and boys who worked hard this weekend. Good luck!
Anyone who was there saw that the Willamette keeper made some outstanding saves! She was the one who kept this match a draw. She was outstanding in this particular match!

What about the comment above where someone discounts that WV were able to finish on their few goal attempts but the fact that the other team had many more shots "is just what happens in soccer" that they didn't finish, while the defenders allowing the shots on WV were the problem. Really? I agree with you, it is hard to be a defender anyway, just the nature of the game, but with parents ripping on them it is even worse!

our DD likes playing defense. she says "all other positions you gotta go after the ball/player. at defense, the ball/player comes to you"

Hold overs are not necessarily the all stars of the team.....it depends what they are looking for or need. Last year they were on a hunt for left footed defenders, the year before size was what was all about........

but typically those that are true "stand outs" do make the hold over camp regardless.

I know there was a lot of '98s on the '97 roster last year. Have we figured out how many '99s there are total yet? All I've read on here is 4 so far. The two from Sherwood and the two from Onyx. I know the 5 from Willamette are all '98. Any more '99s from Portland? What about Southern and Eastern?
