This is just an observation, but looking at the WSM record lately, your last statement might just come true. (hehehehe)

I'm sure this was just a bs comment but lets all not forget what happens to SSC when they venture outside the safe walls of Oregon. Kick and chase to the fast forward doesn't do all so well then.

          Nwcl

I am sure SSC will not have to play kick and run by the start of next years NWCL. Oh, my mistake, SSC did not qualify for it.
I am guessing they will do well in the Director's Cup in the Fall.

Im sure your post was nothing more then a feeble attempt to just stir the pot, so let me layer some cream in their with ya, but no other team but SSC has ever made it to anything worthy of top level competition. If thats all it takes to get out of our safe walls is to mimic them, maybe all our teams should take notice.

Oooooooo---------Ooowwww. I bet that really hurt their feelings. (hehehehe)

You make it sound like it's a great accomplishment to be there.Im sure IF (not when) they win this years State Cup, they'll find their way right back into the NWCL with zero effort.

I just can't see how all this is even a topic. It's SPRING league. None of this matters and coaches know this. Kids are at basketball and track. Coaches use this time to try new things and allow kids to play different positions. Some of the teams only have half their kids there for practices. I know our coach has messed with the line ups and kids that don't typically start are starting. We had our forward playing defense, etc. Being the best in spring league is like being the best in rec. (okay maybe not that bad but you get the point).

Next we'll see teams bragging about winning the Tualatin holiday tournament ;)

I always thought that spring league was all about preparing for State Cup, Regionals and beyond since they seem to directly follow one another. To me, the summer tourneys and fall season is about training and development.

So the whole Season is about State Cup...Totally disagree. As a lot of posters try to say that the Seattle Teams are better than Oregon, if this is true, then why are they not limiting their substitutions in big summer tournaments and the NWCL?

In the fall you typically have your full roster. Spring is very limited as players are doing other sports and many suffer injuries after the long summer/fall season. Spring is for trying new formations to see what may work. Teams at this point have probably picked up new players as well and need to see where they fit in. Coaches know that spring standings mean nothing. OYSA fall league is what helps placement for state cup and OPL fall season is what guarantees entry into NWCL. Spring placement is meaningless.

I agree. Part of preparation is trying new formations, new places for the athletes to play to make your best team. At this age it also seems like the girls come back from winter taller bigger and stronger, so there may be movement within the team. In addition, and the most important part, is while a team needs chemistry they also need to be healthy. Coaches will be resting players more and getting others play time

??? What are you trying to say here ? You make no sense to me.

We have tryouts the first of May each year. That marks the beginning of each season doesnt it ?

We have State Cup finals the weekend before tryouts, so doesn't that mark the end of the season ?

Everything in between and leading up to those finals is in preparation of that coveted trophy. The last chance in preparation of the final tourney is the spring league and is usually an indicator of whos to watch and to set your sights upon if you plan to prevail.

Throughout the entire year there are other tourneys and leagues to play, but none of which have any consequences to the finals in our State Championship, nor do they automatically advance you to the next level of play (except FWRL).

Not true... NWCL gives you a bye to Surf Cup

It should haver said that THUSC Team should not have taken the field against the mighty SSC Squad. THUSC was crushed into submission and were lucky to have even scored a goal. The breathless crowd oooohhhed and aaaahhhed as the Crush effortlessly passed the ball around against the hapless THUSC defenders. The SSC goals were all works of art that us regular folks will talk about for seasons to come. Amazingly, the sun came out as SSC scored there last goal at the end of the Match and the Crush players strode off the field in unison as they had vanquished another opponent!!

Any glaring mistakes in this one?

No, the point is that you said THUSC LOST. That implies that outcome was a fluke. For those who actually saw the game, it wasn't close.

Furthermore, your description of the goals wasn't accurate. You imply that SSC is a one trick pony playing unskilled offense and leaving it up to brute force. Clearly, you didn't watch closely enough.
