Well, I think every kid there is "competitive", and this tournament tests him at his level. Besides, I can tell you that my little guy will compete against some OPL A teams, so I guess they did not get the memo about this being a rec tournament.
If you want ultra competitive soccer, I guess some of you can start visiting the forums about Rainier Cup and Surf Cup? Whatchadoinhere?

Hoping for a great time

You're right about the intenseness (good thing I "sign" my posts so you can tell, eh?)...I really like the format of this tournament and, weirdly, am proud that we in the NW can put together something of this magnitude. At the same time, I'm sad that Chinook cup has fallen apart somewhat.
What I don't understand on this board is all of the people who seem to look for some reason to slam something, whether it's the guy who puts the tournament together, or the teams not being the big leagues, or the way that medals are handed out. Can't we just enjoy the sport?
Can't wait for the weekend. Sunny weather, games galore, views of Mt Hood, and watching the little guys play a great sport!

Quantity over Quality
This event spread out from Hillsboro to Wilsonville...is much like a CQT of ole...but instead of getting placed in a classic division of the oysa you get a medal and the chance to support one's man chance to make $$$ of the lunancy that is present day rec/classic soccer in oregon.
Kudos!

any U13G platinum teams looking for a guest player this weekend ? If so, please post your team/club/coaches info so that we may call them. prefer a team from Washington so travel papers wont be an issue. youll need to supply jersey/shorts. our player plays for an elite top level club/team now, so competitive level is not an issue from what I can see of the teams coming.

Know that one person OWES
Originally posted by Unregistered View PostI am am very sorry to hear that this one person is willing to work harder then those working for the clubs.
What kind of person do you really think that is? He owes a non-profit support kids money, he makes money off of those kids.
If you work hard and earn that is great but if you owe a club a boat load of money you need to pay up.

Or would they rather just hold this over his head for leaving them and taking his ball with him to another field ?
Youd think that if they really wanted to collect the money they would have attempted to collect before now. This person is fairly high profile and isnt hard to find in the soccer circles. He works for a number of different clubs in both Oregon and Washington arranging their tourneys.
Sometimes the slander (wrong doing) angle has far more long lasting waves than the
money that is owed.

Really?

The guy owes a non-profit tens of thousands of dollars, hasn't paid or made arrangements to pay, and you want to put the fault on the club for not garnishing his wages yet? Hmmm...maybe the non-profit was expecting the "pillar of oregon soccer tournaments" to actually abide by the court's ruling. I'm sure the non-profit will ultimately garnish wages if it gets to that point. Until then, maybe the reputable tourney director will actually pay what he legally owes.

Maybe he just can't afford to. If his only source of income is scheduling games, I doubt he makes as much as one of the top DOCs in Portland.
Does anyone really know what they sued him for ? Was it breach of contract ? If so, the club is not actually out any money, just the potential they might have missed after his departure. If it was theft, that is a totally different animal all together. I would have to assume the later is not true, otherwise I'm sure OYSA would not hire him.
