OCYS looks like they are making a bid for the fields at Sylvan Lake Park.... it is on the agenda for the seminole county commission meeting today.

They will provide fields in eastern seminole county as compensation, so for those who live near OC complex you are screwed.

Why are those who live near the OC complex screwed?

The park has actually been closed to the public use of fields for quite some time. Only organized (some) sports have been allowed but this year they have seemed to kick out even more of them. You can't even take your kid to shoot balls on a goal or you will be escorted out. The residents of Seminole County are the ones that get screwed since they no longer have use of a public park put still pay for it. Cronyism at its best. But darn it we will have MLS no matter what it cost you and me. While OC laughs all the way to the bank. The agreement basically reads that OC will pay $250,000 for the complex while Seminole County maintains it. Those County Commissioners are genius.

To find fields you now have to go to OC or to eastern seminole county.

You have been there 4 years and you dont know whats going on wow, from what I have been told Barry coaches the U17s, 16s last year when he took them on a very good state cup run, also from what I have seen from Rongen out there over the last month he's doing a great job with their U15s....could you tell me what local coaches come bring more to a team than these two.

As to development, I like to use one example. There are times when it is best to play the ball back to your own keeper. You can do it and develop the defender-keeper coordination or you can chose not to because the U13 keeper might screw up. I say you do it anyway and if you lose doing the right thing, oh well. Not the end of the world.
There should be more of a background check with these coaches on domestic abuse, and driving with intent for reckless endangerment.

Actually, anyone can run a background check on their coach by placing the name in google search; some of it may be in public record, but other criminal information can be bought with an online site like Intelius.

OC is making a massive land grab at the expense of our tax paying citizens. Our County commissioners should be ashamed for allowing this.

They should be voted out for this travesty.

So it looks like the pro team will no longer be at the Seminole facility. All MLS teams have a headquarters for their training, so this seems like this was coming. Does OC or OCYS own the Seminole property and why didn't they use that instead if they already own it.

OC gets the use of two fields and a building. In return, they provide the funding to build four new fields and various community soccer programs.

And you consider that a "massive land grab?"

Not a massive land grab but cronyism. First OC gives $250,000 for this future complex but Seminole County (the tax payer) still must maintain Lake Sylvan.
