It's called a money grab by OCYS if anything close to 25 kids per team and I hope that is not true. If yes then lots of families will be unhappy at end of next year as it will be a lost year of development for many players. My kid may not make the top team in his age group for OC. However after speaking with a couple of parents that are coming back from fkk and knowing who is coaching the white team here this year, We have decided to stay. First not because of what I heard from the fkk parent but what I didn't hear. Yes they has a party or 2 but for soccer there was no movement up or down and not overly impressed with the program because of little depth but I didn't ask, second was my kid plays with all the other kids while his brother practices after his practice. He doesn't even play on a team with those kids but they play World Cup or whatever and he gets as much from that sometimes. Not a coaching knock but he thinks of those kids as his friends and wants to watch their games and works hard to be a higher team for that alone. Ecnl teams can roster 30. Look at their rosters now- many have more than 25, but hard to say who actually is playing on the purple team also, and who is actually "invited" to go to the games. Maybe they are planning on moving girls between the two. That is not a bad thing, as long as those parents realize their kid may play mostly purple if they are not part of the top 18. What's interesting is just two weeks ago they were predicting a mass exodus from FKK. By all accounts that hasn't happened. Some went and some even signed up but the majority returned.
