Both of my boys are DA players for RUSH. My boys will be brought up for certain games according to Coach Brick.
We were told that playing for RUSH was important and the only way our boys could be brought up and be DA players was to play for RUSH soccer club.
e. Developmental Players: A Developmental Player must be a currently registered
player on an Academy Club’s non-Academy Team and must have been registered with that Academy
Club between August 1 and January 31 of current Academy Seasonal year. Developmental Players
registered after February 1, 2013 with an Academy Team will require proof of membership with the
Academy Club at some point between August 1, 2012 and January 31, 2013. Developmental Players
may not be registered with any two different clubs at the same time during the Academy Seasonal year.

They took everyone that had a pulse so some teams had 3-5 keepers and about 25 field players. I am wondering that if your kid is at Rush if they will even be able to play with OCYS academy teams. I know that there is cooperation between the two clubs for the DA but I am wondering if US Soccer recognizes it as two clubs or one for the DA. Below is why I ask about them being allowed to play. US Academy rules state that to be a DP player you have to be registered with the DA club. Rush players aren't technically rostered to a DA club are they?

a. Initial Roster: Academy Staff shall set a date for setting the official Academy
Team Rosters prior to each team’s first game. Each Academy Club must submit a Master Rosters for its
U-15/16 and U-17/18 teams totaling a minimum of 36 full time players. This does not include
developmental players; for which there is no limit. There is no maximum number of full time players
required for an Academy Master Roster provided an Academy Team does not violate the Minimum Start
Requirement.

must be registered in accordance with all registration guidelines. A Developmental Player may appear in
a maximum of six (6) Academy games per season. Developmental Players cannot participate in the
Academy Playoffs or Finals Week and are not eligible for year end awards. Developmental Players can
only change their status to full-time once during the Academy season, and they cannot return to
developmental player status.

You thought the petition and the threat to leave would drive OCYS to its knees. That OCYS would lose ECNL and the almighty HM would prevail (you know he "walks on water" - good thing he knows where the rocks are).
OCYS called your bluff, stood its ground and retained ECNL (evidently the almighty HM ain't so almighty after all). Once the threat to leave was well publicized, you had no choice but to do so (or eat crow and humble pie and wear egg on your face). Despite your efforts you failed to comandeer the ship.
So now you're gone. OCYS is no longer your concern. Time for you to focus on your own team in your own club and your own player(s).
There was no "petition"- only a letter stating a position signed by many unhappy players and parents.
There was no "threat to leave"- it was a decision made by a bunch of families.
There was no "bluff"- the players stated an intent to leave, and acted on it.
There was no effort to "commandeer" OC- there was an effort to get out, which we did.
now we have our own club which will focus on the values we think are important. I agree everyone should tend to their own business- maybe if OC would agree to rein in the legal threats and trying to undermine other clubs we could all do that.

I think that you are getting confused, with how many games a DP player can participate in. A DP player can only play in 6 games. I copied the two areas out of the DA rules that apply. Note OCYS didn't meet the minimum requirement for full time players all year long.

Please read what I stated. Best players in the "area". Doesnt mean best players in the world or that they will win every game. Means beat players in the area only. And NO I think my kid a a pretty good player but he is not the best and he wasnt chosen. He is a DP player and both me and my kid know that there will be no 6 games with the DA or not even 1. We both know to keep working at it and move on. There is still plenty of time to get better.
Move on folks. Forget what the rules state and have common sense and a pinch of reality.

But if you think that the DA team will be composed of new players coming in and out on a weekly basis you are extremely mistaken. First and formost Central Florida does not have that much talent that will cause this to happen. I was at all the tryouts. My kids have been playing in the area for many years. If your kid had played in the area on a premier team and traveled to all the major tournaments you know who the players are. There is always a couple of chosen players that will leave you to ask "Why?" but for the most part I saw who made the OCYS squads and truthfully it was the best players in the area at the appropriate ages.

Sounds like you and your son have a healthy attitude about the whole thing- keep him working hard and good luck to him.

Boys Labor Day Tourney
Did OCYS decide to do away with this tournament? It was listed under tournaments and was also on the upcoming events, but is now gone. Actually there is nothing on the tournaments page now. On gotsoccer it only has results from last year and no application for this year.

I would guess they will do 2 tournaments and those will not conflict with the tournaments of the other clubs they have agreements with.
