It really and truly is time for everyone to move on and be happy where you ended up, instead of wishing failure on the other club. Best advice is to not burn bridges with anyone - you never know what will happen from year to year - OBVIOUSLY.
I didn't 'assume'. I speculated - as anyone would when looking at the facts.

OCYS' overhead stayed flat or slightly increased from 2012 - 2013. Membership 2012 was 1800, membership 2013 might be around 1400. If I was running that P&L and staring a 20%+ loss in revenue in the face, you can bet your ass I'd be alarmed. Especially after poor revenues in 2012 from tournaments.

i'm not claiming these two vicious rumors were sanctioned by OCYS- as bad as they are, I don't think even the Laddies would stoop quite this low- but it wouldn't surprise me a bit coming from an anonymous Lion-friendly poster trying to "help".

And now I am going to "speculate" that you are ever present on this site stating the same garbage over and over, since every post is similar in that you refer to the "laddies", and "fish and chips". It's not funny now, wasn't funny then, and it's really time for you to move on and be happy at FKK or wherever you are and leave those at OC alone. Since you obviously are not with OC, what do you really care what their membership is, if they are alarmed or not, or if they sink or swim? Furthermore, do you really know what their membership numbers are? Please spare all of us and go away with your bad jokes and negativity.

Yes and there are a lot of low class moves on this site, including insulting individuals and their families.

          - Promises were made and not kept
          - Duel training sessions for second teams
          - games promised that did not occur

          * Year number two Super Y

          Just look at the numbers.

If someone running super y wanted to throw excuses out he might use Dev Academy as a reason for low numbers but the truth is many of those top kids did not even play Super Y.

The lack of service delivered to parents and kids is the main reason for the dwindling numbers.

Year number 2 OC youth club.

OC with US Dev academy and ECNL in their possession

year number 2 see's a decline in numbers.

Should we discuss Recreational soccer and the decline because of poor service?

OC Board of Directors I'm asking that you open your eye's to the facts. Hopefully your not being sold a bill of goods from Director sales leaders who are the reason for your decilne in registration.
Sure I would agree that OC used its marketing machine and sold ignorant parents a bill of goods to get them to sign up their kids for Super Y at a pop of $600 per kid last year. However, I would disagree that players didn't come back of poor OCYS performance and pissed off coaches.

Over the years Super Y has become more and more irrelevant. Especially here is Florida. It used to be an avenue used by the better players to not only stay in shape, improve their game, and play better quality games. However, over the years that has changed not only at OC but other clubs as well. Seasons are getting busier and busier. More and more travel by parents and players and greater commitment. There are also other more flexible outlets now in which the better players continue to be involved, train, and get some time off as well. I know that in our case as parents we were tired after a grueling 10 month heavy travel season. We had already played Super Y for 3 years before hand and there was just no benefit any longer. My kid continues to train heavily during the week even up to twice a day but then has the ability to just take Fri, Sat, and Sun off to just relax and have fun.

To each his own but Super Y is a program that has just run its course in this area.

We will stick it out with OC for this year but hoping the promises made to my son will come true.

            * He was told he would be brought up for a min of 6 games come to find out the top team already has 22 players. Found out most of his purple team was told they were DP players. Doing the math thats a total of 38 kids in his age group that are DP players and now hear that kids that were told to go to the Rush soccer club in my son's age group are also consider DP players.

Are any other clubs involved in this DP player pool. It seems impossible for my son to get 6 games with the Academy team.

            Signed

A family fooled into thinking the DP spot was important.
You are either on the DA team or you are not. One only has to go to the roster for U16 DA and U18 DA and see that there were many DP players and maybe 2 or 3 saw maybe 6 min of a game. U18 had a mess last year and there was some turnover and at the end I believe they couldn't even field a team for the last few games so many DP players got to play 1 game. However, if you are a DP player you are NOT going to be getting a guaranteed 6 games or probably even 1 game. You have to be kidding your own self if you believed it. Go to the team you were assigned and continue to train and get better. Bust your ass and maybe next year or the year after you can make the DA team. Don't worry about not being selected this year.

Then why tell parents the DP role is vital and key for your son?

$ For OC and stupidity by parents= Frustration and no repeat business.

Well... not quite. I'm "laddies-guy". But I'm not "fish and chips guy", "clown car guy", or "directorship lady"- though I wish I was clever enough to have come up with those. To the contrary, i think they're all hilarious, especially since you object to them. I wish I could take credit, but i can't.

Why do I persist in my criticism? Why am I interested? 2 reasons:

                    1) I have a general interest in the 'business" of youth soccer. I am fascinated by the tactics and strategies used to part people from 1000's of dollars using the promise of college scholarships or association with "pro" soccer, and the general ineptitude of those who are involved in managing youth clubs. It's pure comedy, except that it preys on people's aspirations for their kids- which makes it kind of tragic. Central Florida Soccer Club Wars is like a soap opera or a car wreck- hard to tear myself away.

                    2) I think OCYS has been particularly incompetent in its approach to youth soccer. I could forgive most of the ineptitude in the first 6 months- even though it was all unnecesary- but it appears now as though the club has actually taken a pro-active role in trying to crush (no pun intended) its perceived "enemy". In other words, it has transitioned from 'bumbling' to 'attacking'. I thought a few weeks ago that things had finally settled down and both OCYS and FKK were ready to move forward as bitter rivals, but in their own camps. If, as it appears to me now, OCYS might actually be upping the ante- it will be very bad indeed for both clubs. Since I live here and have kids who play soccer, I have a stake in the outcome.

Being on a purple team under a DA team and not a DP player. I do know that the DP players are capped at appearing at more than 6 games. Playing time is not guaranteed to them as they do not fall under the DA guidelines of the main team. This was very clear to me at tryouts. To be honest, I would rather have my son in the environment where he can improve and go up to a better team than be on the top team sucky team of another club. Sorry if that hurts your feelings but I would say Fkk marketing dept is on full swing here.

Hey, if you're interested in studying a marketing department on "full swing", look no further than OCYS having convinced parents of little kids that Landy or Mia is on a "Pre-DA" or "Pre-ECNL" team when they're 12 or 13 years old.

                        Stroke of brilliance.

Agian didnt FCA have the same amount of players last year about 500 on two fields. Seems FKK should have more than enough room with 50% more field space with 20% less players than FCA had.
Or could it be that FKK wants in on Central Winds to get all the recreational players just starting?
Can FKK please explain why they need more fields for less kids than FCA has had over the years and FCA only has 2 fields.

Fields issues is why FCA lost all the better teams. Hard to train when 5 teams are splitting a field!

Isn't that at any club or at any sport/activity?
Any activity is expensive for kids, take girls dance it costs more than soccer does per year, $50 a month per class and the older you get the more you pay to be in the "dance troop" on average its 3 classes a month 50 minute classes so $150 a month for 9 months, a 2 week summer program thats all but mandatory at $225. Don't forget the cost for costumes which is one per class at $120 each. You also need the studio approved practice outfit another $70. Also they go to competitions like tournaments.

I would say its safe to say 90% of all monies spent on youth sports/activitys are a waste of money other than the childs enjoyment. Take the 2k a year you pay for soccer from age 18 to 17 and you have more than any soccer scholarship will offer you.

How is it that when most of us were kids there was no travel programs for the most part in any sport you had your local town teams and school sports and somehow we produced some taleted players in all sports and activites.
