MLS doesn't "set up" franchises. it SELLS franchises- $80-100mm.

MLS is not "awarding a franchise to a city". Put that notion out of your mind. The franchise will be wholly owned by Phil and Brazil. All we get is an UN-MOVEABLE pile of concrete.
Currently there are 19 MLS franchises. A 20th franchis has been designated for 2015 in NYC.

Of the current 19 franchises, please list those which have relocated from their original host cities.

Using the hyperbole of an increase Brazilian tourist visits and their expenditures to justify raiding the Tourist Tax Fund to build a soccer stadium is moronic. The economics of building the stadium are just not sound. The potential attendance figures are completely overcooked, just like the paid attendance at the current OCity games. I love soccer, but this pipe dream is not economically justifiable. Elected officials are being taken for a ride at the expense of the tourists which are the engine of our economy in Orlando.

So far Don Garber IMO has done an excellent job running the MLS. With that being said the MLS has not been successful in the south east. Maybe since soccer has gotten more popular in the states and the MLS is more stable that this is the time to try again in the south. He knows he needs to expand into new TV markets and places where teams don't exists hence the reason Orlando and Miami are likely destinations.

Using that logic, we should comfortably plan a franchise to be based in Homasassa and a stadium in Lake Wales. After all- no MLS franchise has relocated from the original host city- what could possibly go wrong?

Agreed, plus Garber and MLS have nothing to lose, and $100mm to gain.

Elected officials are not being taken for a ride. Buddy gets an executive suite, and probably a BoD spot when he leaves office.

There's no "battle". Only thing left is for OCYS to perform up to promises and expectations. So we wait and watch results.

The point is the MLS is smart about where my they place franchises and not that any franchise would succeed anywhere. Sheezz.. Reading comprehension isn't a strong point for you FKKers!

I understand you completely. Believe me, I do. So does Phil.

How's the Columbus Day tournament registration going? Congratulations on OC for securing a package to help fund a stadium but there is still much work to be done on the youth side.

Once again a blanket statement is made that all dissent comes from one source. Easy to blame one group but trust me there are many in town that do not support our taxes going towards a new stadium and I would assume majority of them have never seen a youth soccer game or know what FKK is all about.

Glad you asked- 68 teams now registered from 11 different clubs. 7 vendors will be on hand (jerseys, equipment, sports drinks, etc). Also on Saturday a "special guest" will open the tournament festivities!

why only 19 then listed on GotSoccer? Sure the "special guest" will encourage teams to register.

Do you think all those WFF teams have figured out yet that they're driving 4 hours to play with themselves in a group of one?
