One more thing: concessions are the biggest ripoff I have ever seen. One hot dog and a handful of French fries- $12 !! A lemonade was $6... The conscessioner needs to be hung by his thumbs for this.

    Next time we tailgate!
I guess you need to eat your hat then. It's seats over 70,000 people. Just how would you expect well over 60,000 empty sears to look? That crowd was bigger than most last year and was announced pretty close to where we were guessing.

By your amazement of the concession prices it's obvious you don't get out much so we will excuse your ignorance. Prices have been outrageous for years at the higher levels of all sports.

Higher level? It is a step up from High School and on Par with Division 2 College soccer.

      Just saying!

"He also identified three key factors that MLS evaluates in potential expansion targets: an ownership group financially capable of operating the team, a stadium seating between 20,000 and 25,000, and a market that can draw roughly that many fans while generating corporate support. The average attendance in MLS last year was 17,800."

8000 is less than half of 17,800 and even further from MLS' 20,000-25,000 fans "key factor" for potential expansion target.

With 2012 home opener of PDL Pro 2011 champions, OCSC should have been able to do better than 8000 (wonder how many of the 8000 were complimentary or sponsor-purchased tickets?).

isnt it USL champions not PDL, that is the kraze. MLS is just the dream but the stuff going on with youth soccer will be the legacy of what Orlando city can do. They have brought together 2 clubs that everyone thought would be an impossible match but yet here they are now Orlando city. The Brits have the right ideas, the question will be will they continue along the American path or do what they do best?

You've got some "catching up" to do:

            #1 Major League Soccer (MLS)
#2 North American Soccer League (NASL)
            Ft. Lauderdale Strikers
            Tampa Bay Rowdies
#3 United Leagues Soccer (USL) - USL PRO
            Orlando City Soccer Club
#4 National Premier Soccer League (NPSL)
            Jacksonville United
            #4 USL-Professional Development League (PDL)
            FC Jax Destroyers
            Ft. Lauderdale Schultz Academy
            Ocala Stampede
            Orlando City U23
            Panama City Beach Pirates
            VSI Tampa Flames

That might make it too simple for someone!

Tailgating for the games is the way to go. It is much more fun and you don't have to pay the ridiculous prices in the citrus bowl. We will do that every game!

First you are a goofball with no sense of reality but you probably know that already. Secondly Orlando City had the highest attendance in the US outside of MLS last year. In fact they really weren't far behind teams like the New England Revolution and Chivas who both averaged only over 11,000.

Either you must have a current and legitimate concealed wepon permit or you're a fool.

The Citrus Bowl ain't in the best of neighborhoods in Orlando.

As a matter of fact I do carry a weapon, but when you park right the citrus bowl with cops every where, I don't see an issue with hanging out and having fun. All the tailgating is concluded before dark.

No sense of reality? The facts and stats ARE reality.

"In FACT"? WRONG: In 2011 OCSC average attendance was 5,265, far, far behind NE Revs and Chivas 11,000 average attendance.

MLS 2011 average attendance was 17,800 and NE Revs and Chivas were 11,000, it's pretty obvious attendance at NE Revs and Chivas sucks (lowest in MLS), making OCSC's 5300 average attendance laughable.

Prompts a suggestion for an OCSC promotion to increase season ticket sales: free concealed weapon permit classes and discounted NRA membership. Help bring more soccer fans to crime-ridden downtown Orlando and the Citrus Bowl neighborhood.

Why do folks keep living in fantasy. Let's just say we make 11000. Its still would be the worst attendance in the league and I will bet Orlando would never be able to sustain that in the long-term. There is no following here no matter how many "free" tickets to tack on to each kids registration fee. In addition, ANY politician that would vote on spending a few million dollars on a useless soccer specific stadium for some overzealous parents to attend games should probably be hung on the main square for all to see.

I love soccer as much as anyone on this forum but the truth is ORLANDO DOES NOT HAVE AND IF IT DID Disney would have jumped in as a partner. Move on Phil Rawlins just let give us the bad news and leave now. Why keep stringing us along.

"Why"? Because Rawlins (and others) can, preying on an over-abundance of gullible and naive soccer-stupid SoccerDads and SoccerMoms, bringing truer meaning to the term "disposable income".

A "few" million. Now there's an understatement.

The Citrus Bowl and Capital One Bowl games bring in more money to Orlando than MLS could ever dream of. Orlando is already in jeopardy of losing those if they don't fund renovations to the Citrus Bowl and they're having trouble justifying that. There is no way in the world Orlando is going to fund a soccer stadium, even if it were just a "few" million dollars.
