Not a chance...this is just the weakest D1 in 20 years. LaSalle can't win the one game they play outside of RI against a decent team.

Good point. Partially. You can only put so much weight in mid season non-league matches. Coach might have played all the subs to get them playing time. Might have played the back up goalie. But it is hard to determine just how good this LSA team is since they don't play any quality opponents. It would be fun to see them play other private school teams.

He was playing is regulars with minor variations in that game. I've seen enough of the other teams play to know that the quality of competition is not there. It's too bad MB or Classical aren't playing in the D1 Playoffs, they might put together a couple wins.

          Play up then

Laugh when I hear too bad about MB and Classical. They for years have had the chance to move up with stellar d2 records. They never do, afraid of playing a tough schedule for real. I'm not saying they have no talent, but if you don't have the courage to play the best that we have to offer then you are not a serious contender. A great record in d2 is a far cry from d1. Shea and CF finally did it and it has been generally fine. Quit making excuses and being afraid to play D1.

Maybe they will be there next year . Re-alignment meeting this year. Classical one of the smallest public schools in the state. Looses kids to LSA every year and they probably played LSA the toughest all year at home on a Saturday night. MP was loosing his crap at half time with a 1 to 2 score.

MB has been pulling kids from inner city and will continue to do well and provide scholarships so it could get interesting in the next few years. . I think you need to be careful what you wish for daddy warbucks.

You have to look at gender enrollment. Classical is female heavy were Shea is male heavy.

Shea and Classical loose good players to football and basketball if the soccer program doesn't win..
Classical was in D3 about 4 or 5 years ago ...it says alot about the AD and coaches if you can win 4 state titles in a 5 year span and move up a division.

It is not 50/50 true..but it is still more boys than EG or Barrington..and I am sure a lot of schools would prefer winning teams...good for them to move up from d3 but they should move up to d1...

Telling numbers. Keep this in mind when the Providence Journal is gushing about Hendricken football and baseball and LaSalle soccer winning state title after state title. Not too hard when you play by different enrollment rules and you can recruit from all over.

Classical admissions policy doesn't help them because some of the top players in providence can't get in.If they could they would be one of the top programs in the state

Classical is the top ranked school in RI by US News and World Reports, beating out the likes of SK, Barrington, and EG. Scores are pretty high in proficiency across the board regardless of minority and language barriers. Looks like they know what they are doing. The Journal also doesn't seem to skimp when giving All State Awards to the deserving Classical kids.

I think that's why the original poster meant. Classical has the worst of both worlds when it comes to sports. It has high academic standards and it's a public school.

You are correct. What I am saying is that many kids that are playing at Central and other Providence schools couldn't get in to classical.Imagine what their team would look like with additional top NEFC and Bayside players..
