1. Bayside most definitely has a "system" of play which aspires to the Spain/Portugal possession/exploit strategy, as opposed to an English/Scottish direct approach.
2. The possession game is defined by the quickness in which decisions and ball movement is made. The advantages in moving the ball quickly and not dribbling are measured in seconds which is why most premier teams that play possession are great at stringing a couple passes and then a bad touch happens and the advantage is lost through a tackle or turnover.
3. In high school - it's opposite and 1 out of every 5 touches is a good one with the ball remaining at their feet, therefore possession and playing to the center of the field or backwards (all hallmarks of possession style) is dangerous and usually ends in a bad result. This is why I say Bayside kids are neither fish nor fowl when playing HS, they can't count on their teammates to do anything with their great passes and they aren't use to trying to do it all alone anymore when no one supports them.
4. No one ever mentioned KV in this discussion - I was speaking about the collective group of talent in the state. If you ask coaches which players are the top talent in the state at 15, 16, 17 - most would be from Bayside and most will NOT be in the top 10 goal scorers list.
