lasalle has handily outplayed everyone they played this year. They just never put the ball in the net. Eventually that was going to change and maybe it already has with the SK game last night. Speaking of SK. Watching them last night they showed absolutely nothing. I don't think SK put 2 passes together at anytime. Have no idea how they would have beat NK 5-2. Weird division this year.

As with most HS teams, pretty decent players but new coach with little to no HS or club experience. I expect on any given day SK can beat anyone in the state based on player vs player matchups, but don't expect they'll be able to put together anything cohesive to put together a run through the playoffs.

Can't wait to see Lasalle & Prout play - they seem like mirror images of each other. They'll probably end up with a negative score.

I don't get the SK thing either - I guess it is really all about 1/2 critical match-ups in each of these D1 games this year.

I caught the Smithfield Bay View game last night and have to say I thought Smithfield was horrible-I had expected a much better team than I saw last night.

Either BV is better than thought or Smithfield is overrated. It was like watching a game of kickball-BV totally outplayed them by actually at least attempting to control the ball and pass to someone on their own team-the Smithfield girls were in such a hurry to get rid of the ball they constantly turned the ball over. Terrible first touches as well-I don't see them doing anything this season.

I heard mention of injuries-well I wouldn't be surprised if half the problem was that mess of a field they play on. I know the weather has been lousy but that field is by far the worst I have seen this season.

leaves EG and Portsmouth as the only unbeatens. I still think Portsmouth is where the money is and I would not be surprised to see them face EG in the championship game. Next week will tell if NK has what it takes against EG. I think after last night you can count smithfield out.

The d1 results are an embarsment. Its not strong defense turning away high powerred offenses. Its missed passes, shots way from the mark, and poor execution on both sides of the ball. if North Kingston and East Greenwich are the standard for this division, count me out. I'll be at the d3 games from now on.

Check out the Thursday EWG-Pilgrim game. You have the best players in RI--a Regional ODP forward and numerous premier players from Bruno and other RI teams on the field together for what promises to be an epic clash, at least accoring to the projo.

I did not think the departure of the class of 2011 would have such a huge impact on d1 soccer scene, but the lack of offensive power outside of NK anyway is really a surprise to me. Teams just arent finding the back o f the net and from the games I have seen, it is not from overly powering defensive schemes. Of the top 20 offensive players on the projo site, only 3 are in d1 and all from NK!

youll see a 4-4-2 battling a 4-4-2 with the 2s on both teams giving an offensive lesson to each other. I predit EWGs 2 forwards outduel Pilgrims 2 forwards as well. 5-2 it is.

I blame the lack of individually dominant offensive players and creativity on the recent emergence of Bayside on the girls side.

Bayside's possession style soccer emphasizes quick passing and controlling the ball until you can exploit a seam or build up the attack in numbers.

Many of the best new high school players in the state are coming up through the Bayside program - which is very much team focused, they lack individual skill and creativity.

If you look at the players from NK who are scoring in D1 - they are not part of the Bayside club and dominate on their athleticism and individual 1v1 skills.

One more reason to hate on Bayside.
