Expect some surprises on Tuesday. Smithfield will rebound with a 6-2 win over Prout. Toll Gate will tame the NK overrated express, and another homegrown RI player will pop the over inflated EWG bubble. Burrillville 6 - EWG 5. LaSalle will be stunned--more details to follow. All these RI players who go to MA to find the greener grass will see that RI has the greenest of all.

I have rarely been wrong in the past.

Refs helped out missing a clear advantage call with Prout forward alone in box.

Toll Gate is better than years past but I question the coaching decisions on time and substitutions.

Opportunites are missed and kids dont do what you expect they could or should. Fact is Toll Gate missed a few opportunites themselves, especially in the first half. PK that clearly should have been given. So I would say, perhaps in spite of poor coaching or what ever the excuse of the day is, Prout was lucky to get all the points at home

If TG is any good, they will get to show it against NK tomorrow. And for Prout--they have their chance against smithfield. I predict:

          NK 3 TG 1

          Prout 4 SF 3

I think too many RI sports fans are thinking about this year's girls soccer matchups in light of last year's great players. The games between NK and TG, and SF and Prout are likely to be sleepers compared to some of the D2 and D3 games this week. Not only did last year's graduating class (which has now been featured in two projo game time reports) deprive d1 of its excitement, but most of this years strongest players are taking the field with teams such as Classical, Pilgrim, Narragansett and Burrillville. Sad but true.

Not sure about Toll Gate vs NK, both teams are question marks, but can tell you that Prout and Smithfield both over rated

Prout plays on a u12 sized cow pasture and Smitheild plays on a big football sized field. So if this game is at SF, Prout is going to have trouble. It is tougher to play kick and run when you have to run 50+ yrds to the goal with the ball. If SF coach has a clue, this is a draw

my bad--Narr and Burr are d2 this year, not d3......

                  Classical?

Pilgrim is loaded with talent, but it is d2 championship talent, The best d2 teams are at best comparable to mid level d1 teams.

That's my whole point--there are no "mid-level d1" teams this year. Outside of LaSlle, maybe EG and apparently NK, d1 is comparable to the top end of d3.

That's too much of an exageration. Granted the field of talent is much diminished this year and D1 is nothing like it was over the last few years with the departure of the class of 2012, but comparing it to D3? Some cross over games have already taken place between D1 and D2, and there is another one on tuesday the 11th, between Moutn St charles and Barrington. I think there may be some others scheduled. Note there are not crossovers between D2 and D3.

Post of the week on a Monday!

Here's the real deal, I've seen plenty of kids tear up D3 with 25+ goals and struggle in Maple/NEP to score 5 goals over the course of the season. If you take most decent players in D1 and put them in D2 or D3 - they would dominate just as much with that amount of time and space.

Now, if you want to argue that there are 2-3 really, really good kids that unfortunately are stuck playing in D2 or D3 - I'll buy that but please don't try to suggest that the most exciting games or the best HS soccer is at Classical - only a buffoon would even suggest it.

As far as TG/NK tomorrow - NK will win by at least 4 goals, bet the house on it.

Game is at Prout - not sure I'd consider Prout anymore kick and run than any other HS team, might even say that they rely more on ball control and carrying by all-state striker and using their size on scrums in the box on set pieces.

They have big, aggressive players through the center of the field from defense to striker - I think it will be a matter of how well those players show up and shutdown Smithfield's center mid tomorrow.

They arent any bigger than any other d1 team and in fact, if you take away one or two very fast players they looked rather slow. The breakaways from that game were a result of poor marking at mid feild and then a race to goal from the line. My point being that is is harder to race 50 yards than 30-35 yards. Prout came out very agressively in that game but had long stretches where they could not clear their own lines. They are average at best. If they do beat SF then I think all the SF crowing needs to stop,

That is foolish, you dont know what you are talking about.

                                Duh - that's the point.

Prout isn't a particularly fast team - their mids passed to space and let their strikers get in behind TG's backline as opposed to big kicks out of the backfield and trying outrun everyone.

Take your loss like a man and get over it, TG didn't even get the ball over mid-field during the 1st half. Maybe you should talk to your coach, you had a lot of talent sitting on the bench.
