He gave the Portsmouth team no credit and repeatedly shouted "I hope your proud of beating a bunch of 11 year olds". Bayside is a very good team and many parents from both sides showed respect and class and some unfortunately did not and continue to perpetuate this silly argument.

There should be no response because you think that these coaches just got together one day and said, lets get this girl and this girl. It was planned a long time ago and they went out and just about screwed everyone they could including the guy from over the bridge who screwed his own town team to play and make sure they got the win. I would pay to see how the parents react to that. That to me is the worse part about the whole thing. Then you got the Portsmouth President of the league making sure everything got done with little disruption. One guy even posted the rules on why they could do it 1 minute after someone posted that it wasn't legal. They had everything figured out and planned.
Portsmouth parents, if you are still defending it, then you are fooling yourselves because you all got played by these guys. Trust me, unless they are completely heartless, they know what they did was wrong, they care about people looking at them and saying, wow what a coach, look what he did. you won, good luck but know that the people around the decision knew what they were doing all along and tried to hide it as much as possible.

Sure, teams are going to add players just to give some players that never played on the team a chance to play. Dont be a fool!!!

Originally posted by Unregistered View PostSounds like a lot of whining from the losers. Reality is all club teams put these teams together from multiple communities. South County teams have kids from all over. This is State Cup not Superliga. The only thing that needs to change is the ability to play in USYSA championship and also SRI Cup. If a player competes in one, they should not be allowed to compete in the other.
USYSA is supposed to be an open championship for teams in leagues (so no ODP or all-star teams) so to restrict players is not in line with the spirit of the event. However, if you want to do that, you should at least have what is in VT which is the "A" league of the state's main league is *open* and free of community rules, etc. and qualifies as the State Cup league. If RI is to have only 1 league, the Anchor division should be open and count as a S/C league..the lower divisions can follow whatever community rules the "experts" think are necessary and be the RI Cup qualifying divisions.
The folks who think SRI rules punish the better town programs can have their wish to have the ability to form an unrestricted team and the town programs that cry about being swallowed up will still have their precious town rule (and it's not like they are going to keep their very best players anyway)..the only ones who might whine are the marginal RI premier teams because now they have no excuse why they have to run up and play in MASC when they should be playing in RI (like SC U14G beating Lusitana, Tidal Wave)

Just a FYI here, anyone can invent any team for state cup play as long as a town club or premier club will sign your travel papers. You could take girls or boys from their teams for state cup play as long as their club is willing to sign a release. You could then name them anything you want and compete with a valid roster and valid permission to travel.
This team and these girls did nothing wrong. Anyone can do this and it's not a new trick either. It will be a great experience for all the players, something they will never forget so just leave them alone. Instead of being jealous make your own special state cup team next year. It's a great way to compete with the premier teams for a one time event.
