I'm sure they would be fine in D1 and there are a few D1 teams that should probably be D2. Being a D1 team has its coolness factor, but your win percentage will definitely go down. Look at Smithfield. One could argue that they are a stronger team this year than last year but their chances of winning D1 is pretty much zero and being top three just a little better.

EWG was in the race last year to win it all but it just never seemed to happen for them. A move to D1 would be tough with the pool of players available and you will definetly see diffrent results than this year.As far as smithfield they were D2 champs last year. There have been some difficulties with a few of the teams in the division but they are still faring well being second in the Div. and headed to playoffs. But lets face the facts Lasalle will win D1 again this year and probably next as well. However, the smithfield team is young and will be better than they are now when that time comes that Lasalle will be losing there national level players.Good luck!

Good info, but the question was regarding 2 divisions, not 3.

So I get an "A" for effort. Go to http://www.riil.org/ - Brackets - History. You can see how they have done it in the past. Looks different for the boys than the girls but it may just be the total number of teams in each division. Overall it is as you suggested.

Rough day for MSC yesterday against EWG. Lincoln and Mt Hope tied, and Ponagansett continues to roll. Pilgrim plays later. Race will be tight.

Agreed--the Lincoln-Ponagansett game is huge. EWG may bring a U12 rec team to this match, and in addition, the Mt Hope-Tiverton game also has some playoff ramifications. It's getting exciting!

Looks like there is going to be a 4 way tie for the #1 seed in D2 Girls. I don't think (Who beat Who) will work with this grouping. Does anyone know what the order of tie breaking RIIL uses?

Ponagansett tied Pilgrim, so the original poster is correct--what will RIIL do? Will there be some kind of preliminary round to determine seeding?
