Overall, yes. Having one dominant team is NOT good for any league. In fact it isn't any good for the dominant team. The only ones that benefit a dominant team are the stuck-up parents sipping their lattes on the sidelines. "oh my, look at Buffy dominate"

And yes 3 years at the same level is stable. And yes, I can balance your checkbook. What I probably won't be able to do is teach you to stop using obnoxious multiple question marks.

So spread the talent out (or drive it away to Mass) so everyone thinks they are good when the reality is they are not. So typical of today's world. Why don't you give everyone a trophy for just playing? Keep defending the Rays and your daughters team all you want. You know they have no shot outside RI. It's good that you have accepted it. You should have saved the $1000 you paid the Rays and played for town team.

I think we can safely close out this thread by simply acknowledging the obvious--whoever has been posting these negative thoughts about the Rays is simply a misinformed a**hole.

Or that this person has some insight to the way the Rays are managed and coached and you just don't want to admit that they are correct. Sometimes the truth hurts.

The truth that hurts is that this "person" appears to be a member of the Rays organization and is demonstrating a sickening lack of loyalty by stabbing them in the back through anonymous posts. You are making a mockery of the Rays, of RI, and of yourself.

I agree completely with this post: He is definitely misinformed.

We have been with the Rays since 2007, we have always said it was the coaching we are there for and not the “Organization”. We have not had to deal with anyone but our coaches and they are Phenomenal!! And we will stay with them as a team for as long as we can. It’s our girls as a group and our coaches that make us the team we are. We are VERY happy with them.

Here is a list of what they have accomplished as a team, we have won games against ALL the other premiere teams in RI and some of the teams in MA since we play in Maple and mostly play MA teams in Tournaments. We have never had a problem driving to be able to get the competition we need. So no matter what team you choose in RI you will be playing MA teams.

                  You know who

Oh yeah. And don't forget that we have a girl from MA now as well. If you play with good players, against good competition and have good coaching you are doing the right thing for your daughter. We have all three.

Absolutely! We definitely have all 3!!

This is why college coaches have such a poor opinion of players in RI.
Anyone with half a brain knows that any league with only one or two superteams is no good. If the system was not the way it is, noone would benefit. How would a team like the U15 Scorpions Elite be as good as they are if they did not have this pool of players (all playing premier) to cherry pick from? Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe there are three RI girls on that SUPER TEAM!!! Of course RI cannot as a whole compete with clubs that are in states that have 5 times the pool of players to draw from. But like other small clubs, there are some teams in RI that are/have been very successful. You would have everyone believe that if you can't be on the best team out then why bother. RI teams have the advantage over MA teams in that it is much easier to get to STATE CUP CHAMPION in RI than it is in MA. The RI players on those teams have an opportunity to get noticed (individually if not as a team) at Regionals, whereas many of their MA counterparts on equal or even better teams may never ever get to play at the regional level.

New to this board but I think you are mistaking Premier Soccer for Club Soccer. In Premier it's about the player. Yes you want to play on a good team but it's all about exposure to college coaches. Being able to win the State Cup every year because there is no competetion is not what Premier Soccer is about. If you are lucky to play on a great team and be noticed at tournaments is what Premier Soccer is all about. How do college coaches look at a player if they go to Regionals or to a tournament and the striker doesn't touch the ball because the team lost 5-0 or the ball never left the defensive end.

Why doesn't RI use coaches from area colleges? There are some great schools in RI.

That is an excellent question and a great idea. College coaches would lend some credibility to the RI group. And a college coach would have a totally different outlook on what it is all about.

All RI College coaches are on Bruno or Bayside staff and they only coach U15 boys and UP just not that many coaches willing to coach premier soccer in RI.
