If you are a very good player and you want the exposure to play at the next level RI can not help you. This was not always the case. This happened over the last 4 years mainly because RI allowed additional premier teams to form. This watered down the talent and gave false hopes to players that really do not belong in "premier soccer". This is happening in most states. Mass (Stars & Scorpions) and CT (CFC) have figured out a way to keep the top talent. So they can play at the top level in the country. RI cannot even touch that. The RI Rays were the leaders in girls soccer about 5 years ago but mangament and bad coaching drove players away. They blew it!

It appears that players are going to other states (mainly Mass) because teams there are able to provide them with the opportunities to be seen by the top colleges in the country. I don't know that teams in Mass are "taking" players from RI.

I have talked to many of the parents of the best talent taken out of RI and it was by the parents choice, not that they were forced or taken. The options in RI are average with little to no development for the above average players, along with additional options on playing like a good Region 1 team, above average coaching, the options of ECNL (both for Stars and Scorpions teams), and acceptance into the highest level of competitions at most tournaments and college showcases.

Please spare me that Mass teams are taking your players, you are forcing them to find better options!!!
You are truly obnoxious. I can't stand people that over punctuate to show that they are snotty fools. The word "taken" was not used literally in this case.

I doubt that you have talked to any RI parents, you seem more like the talk "at" types. And seriously, what do you know about RI teams? Or maybe you are the parent of a kid that couldn't make it on a RI team and had to settle for more driving so you kid could get some playing time on an inferior team.

The Scorpions U14 team looks like the are fighting for last place in the "premier" division. What a waste of time and money.

You included the Scorpions as part of the group keeping "top talent". Maybe they are just having a bad year.

Looking at the U14 Rays, they performed fairly well in their division of subregional. They played some very strong teams to a tie, which leaves hope for development in the fall

Agree--the rays U14 girls are going to be the dominant team in RI and probably able to play on par with most ma teams

The scorpions have 2 teams playing in the playoffs in the Premier league in Region 1 this weekend in Delaware. That puts these teams in the top 4 in the region. Not bad! I don't think the Scorpions are having a bad year. Oh, by the way there are 2 very good players on the U15 and one on the U17 team from RI.

                  You're making my point!

Maybe in RI but not outside RI. We'll see how well they do when they go the Regionals. What's the last time a team from RI won 2 games at Regionals?

I think they will bounce back. They have been through a lot of turmoil.

To the original poster: If you want to check out these teams, a few are playing in State Cup semis and finals this weekend.

Bruno has a good U15 team. But I question the intent of this question. Seems like a troll to me.
