Seems a bit odd that kids that are very likely about to never play competitive sports again decide to play as little as possible as the soccer career winds down. I would think kids would be loading up with the reality that the next game is potentially the last one they will ever play competitively and just to play as much as possible until real life comes calling.

Explain what you mean. Surely if you are committed you won't need to go to showcases. But there are only a few of those throughout the year. What happens for league games? Who plays in those? By rotation or best players?

only difference is the BRD favorites not used to bench sitting - going to be a rude awakening for them when mommy and daddy can't broker them starter gigs and tons of unearned/non-worthy PT anymore
