No clubs outside of DA or ECNL deserves to be in either league. None. Maybe a good team here or there, but no club are good enough to get the call. I think the GDA is foolish, but clear difference between those two leagues and everything else.

Agreed - ECNL could be a great league- if the clubs were actually held to the standards ECNL claims to have. But at bucks you are basically getting a rec club with an ECNL patch. Dad coaches, no facilities, few practices, no speed and agility, and pitiful college commitments. Bucks is a rec club with a patch. It is no better than Philly soccer

You are a bit misinformed. ECNL doesnt hold their teams to standards because they dont exist. Each club is allowed to manage themselves as they see fit. The only thing ECNL requires is a professional game day environment which essentially means a nice field, Gatorade coolers, an ECNL flag and good refs. Last two being optional.

GDA on the other hand does have standards clubs are or will be held to and is reason number 1 why ckubs left or never opted in. ECNL is an inferior product dollar for dollar and the talent in each leagie is eerily similar in almost every age group. ECNL for all its bravado is now being propped up by outside forces that being HS soccer. If DA ever figures that out or compromises it is game over for ECNL.

Its not about creating the best competitive environment thats not what ecnl or DA sells. They sell exposure and they do it the best. All the top players on these great EDP teams will get less exposure than the worst kid on the ECNL/DA team. Its also not a coincidence that the DA is starting to make up a large majority of the YNT rosters. Right or wrong but US soccer was pretty clear where it wanted its YNT players playing. Just like college coaches are pretty clear that they want ECNL and DA kids.

Agree also ECNL and DA best exposure. But at bucks the D1 commitments for 2020 are pitiful. So the exposure isn’t doing much for the bucks kids - because the product bucks puts out isn’t good. The exposure is wasted if the players aren’t good.

Agreed. Bucks brand has taken a beating that kept kids away. But in Bucks defense the kids who did show up for them did get the exposure they were promised.

I might have the wrong grad year but I think this is the age group that blew up 3 years ago over a coach and lost players to PDA, PF, Delco, Cedar Stars and others. Kind of started the downward trajectory and public image of Bucks.

Spot on. If bucks could ever get their act together and actually give people what they promise, they would have a much better product. They have the talent at the younger ages but have no clue how to develop it, and keep it. At some point people wake up and realize that the patch alone isn’t enough. And those people take their little Mia’s and leave for the better clubs. A tale as old as time. And also a lesson in economics. People stop buying when what you are selling sucks.

Good point. Clubs like FC Bucks would eventually be run out of business if they had to actually compete in the market based on quality of teams. ECNL is keeping a lot of these clubs in business.

The best clubs play in ECNL and DA. Your child is fine playing in the just for fun league. Just let her play and have fun. That’s why we have those other leagues. If she was at a good club they would be in the DA or ECNL, but she is playing for a town club and that is okay!
