FC Bucks 2006 ECNL - Girls

Team has scored five goals in eight (nine if you count World Class) ECNL games - all five coming against the two last place teams.

Team hasn’t scored a goal against teams that are in 1-4th place . NOT ONE GOAL against the tougher ECNL teams. But let’s keep doing things the same way and playing kids full games that aren’t doing their jobs. And keeping kids in positions they are clearly not suited for. When a midfielder can’t distribute (ZB) the whole team suffers. A vested coach or maybe one that didn’t have a dad manipulating things for his kid would have changed something/anything by now with these pitiful results.


But keep right on being happy that this team is ranked 96th in the country!! Yeah!!! You should be so proud .

I remember when those same naive people predicted this team would not do well this season because practicing once a week, with constant scheduled changes that ensures you don’t get a full team, with a dad coach pulling the strings and a checked out head coach is not a recipe for success.
I think those naive people were fairly prophetic.
Hopefully the team makes it until the spring.

Are we really arguing about rankings of 12-13 year old soccer teams? Could there be anything more meaningless? If your goal is for your kid to have fun, does it remain fun when you are constantly getting beat? If every week you either tie or lose, will your kid still find it fun? Will they even care what their ranking is?

If your goal is for your daughter to play in college, you are essentially competing against girls on the 88 other ECNL teams, so where you are ranked amongst all 96,000 youth soccer teams in the U.S.A means almost nothing. This team's reality is that when it plays the teams it competes with, it is not winning.

But lets even look at the bigger picture. One day your kid is presumably going to want a job. Putting your 96 rank when you were 13 and playing soccer on your resume isn't going to get you too far. What will take girls far is the bigger lessons learned through youth sports - teamwork, perseverance, hard work, competition, etc. There is no ranking for these things. But what is certain, is that when mommies and daddies pave the way for their kids and prop them up, their kids don't really learn these lessons. There is also character and integrity. Again, no ranking website for character and integrity. Teaching your kids that mommy and daddy will take care of it in a backroom deal doesn't teach your kids character and integrity.

Wrong - summer of 2018 he coached several practice by himself - that was what clued us all in that he was more than a manager. Of course these practices took place at Villa in August so Bucks wouldn’t know.

It’s a win if you consider we all pay thousands of dollars for a professional coach - not an unlicensed, unqualified dad, who played some high school soccer. Not to mention the fact we have to travel and spend several hundred more dollars to play in the tournament, the least we can expect is professional coaching. It is what we signed up and payed for.
