So, there was a backroom deal that parents made with the dad who’s in like Flynn with the coach.

Keep our kids together or we don’t come at all.

Other kids were given the boot to allow room for this deal to take place.

Parents found out. Are pissed.

Dad is now also a coach. ??

Conned parents are like, “You parents did a disservice to your kids, shame on you, and change is coming.”

And the best part. If they didn’t know already, the back room deal kids now know they didn’t legitimately make the team because their parents didn’t believe in them. Didn’t believe they were good enough to do it on their own.

Do you treat playing rec league, or Inter County or PAGS the same as playing ECNL or GDA? If so, that is part of the problem. The parents on the team don't mind a Dad coach at the rec level, however they do mind having a Dad parent coach when playing ECNL. This is not why we came to play soccer at FC Bucks, we were not sold on playing for a parent coach. This really is crazy. If this is going to be the case we will leave, and so will most of the other girls on the team. Why would FC Bucks run the club this way? Do PDA, Stars of Mass, Match Fit, CFC, FSA, Scorps, World Class, SUSA, Maryland United, Bethesda and EMSC have parent coaches? We finished behind all of those clubs the past couple of years in the ECNL. Our entire club, all of our teams, were one of the worst clubs in the ECNL. Only club worse than FC Bucks was FC Delco. Do we want to become FC Delco? FC Delco have no kids, and we are heading in that direction! Does having a CRUSA attitude and CRUSA way of doing things help FC Bucks get better in the ECNL? These are simple problems to fix. Lots of talent on the team and lots of talent in the club. We love the team and FC Bucks, but some of the common sense stuff is basic common sense. Just fix basic problems so we can grow as a club!

If it didn't matter then 1.) you would not have been part of that backdoor deal, 2.) your kid would not be playing in the ECNL, 3.) you would not pay all that money for your kid to be on a team (any team), and 4.) you would not be trying to downplay this whole mess. I couldnt stand the local politics of our town travel league .... let the kids compete and success or fail ... on the field .... not because of mommy and daddy coaching or brokering backroom deals to get them on the A team. When people say that adults ruin kid's sports, you and the other folks like you are the prime culprits. I know it happens all over the place and at many different levels and i just have no tolerance for it ... and here is why .... you think it doesnt make a difference ... but your BS directly lead to kids not making the team ..... you put your kid unfairly onto a pedestal that they did not earn at the expense of others. I hope some of them went to PF (or elsewhere) and make it their mission to take it out on the kids they know are part of the problem. When this team falls apart, I hope other clubs know the story and refuse you and your kid as you did to others without giving them a fair shake at tryouts. What happened is beyond belief to me and anyone participating in it is a selfish, egotistical dirt bag willing to step on little kids for their own personal gain. I hope things change next year, they do legit tryouts, and your kid takes the shot so you can see how it feels.

This stain will stay with your daughters. Who knows maybe it even impacts college recruiting. At this point you only have two choices - apologize and advocate that the club fix things going forward and let your daughters stand on their own merits, or if you believe what you did was right, own it!! Publicly admit to it. publicly admit to who was there and what was discussed and state why you believed it was ok.

There absolutely was a backroom deal. And it was beyond just recruiting. It was picking a team before even having tryouts and then having fake tryouts for appearance purposes. Also if the mantra to parents seems to be to let kids be kids and it’s just youth soccer, where exactly does any sort of “recruiting” fit into that

Groups of players are often brought in to give teams stability. The issue around this team is having a messed up schedule and a Dad coach, lacking qualifications, coaching his own daughter. The team wants a coach with minimal conflicts, and also doesn’t want a Dad coach. That’s it! Two very simple problems that need to be fixed so we can go forward like a normal ECNL team. We have the talent, we just need a normal setting and playing environment. This isn’t too much to ask!

PS - easy to see that your kid was one of those saved by the infamous back door deal.

My kid was never on this club due to proximity/geographics. But they were in consideration because I think the coaches are good. Also, I see the flaws in other clubs too. They ALL have them.
