Since ECNL pulled out of west coast this year- some people may consider driving to some events to make it cheaper. Sucks as it will limit exposure to Cali colleges.
Not many players from around here are good enough for the better west coast programs. ECNL requires 2-3 events depending on age, so does GDA, + nationals if you qualify. GDA has longer events, not one on a holiday weekend. In this area at least NJ is drivable, even SC could be if you wanted, while all GDA events are not.

Missing more then half a week of High school, on consecutive days, in the middle of the second semester is a tall order for kids in tough NY academic high school programs any way you slice it. That is a lot of missed instruction at a time in the year when the teachers are piling it on.

Unnecessary for US soccer to create that destructive conflict.

Even putting that aside, how do working parents of young HS students manage this mid week lengthy travel sojourn? Does US soccer only want kids from families with a stay at home parent that can afford to chaperone mid week winter excursions to sunny Florida? Nice customers to have I guess.

At U15-17 level it’s 3 events + playoffs. Many clubs add an extra tourney. So that’s 5 events vs 3 for GDA.

Most of the time kids leave on Thursday or come back Monday during school.

Not sure how you come up with your numbers, but probably never been exposed to either league, and are just a miserable troll.

For NY players, the ecnl weekend events require missing a day of school in my experience. Not great but better then 2 or 3 or 4.

And PDA showcase does not require missed school, or plane tickets, Depending on the schedule - some can get away with no hotel. Lots of Northeast coaches from target schools for many NY players as well. Gotta love that PDA showcase!

Either way you slice it what US Soccer is doing is a complete joke no reason whatsoever to schedule these during a school week but to each its own.

This was done after NCAA turned Dec 15-Jan 5 into a recruiting blackout period. These tournaments used to be the week after Xmas. Not sure what else US Soccer was supposed to do.

Run them over the weekends or holiday weekends like every other soccer showcase for school age kids.

Therein is the problem. Those other showcases are already scheduled for those weekends, so running these ones over those weekends screws the other showcases. There is:

                    Nov 15-17 Bethesda
                    Nov 22-24 CASL

Disney had their tournament over Thanksgiving last year, but moved it to mid-January for this season. Not sure why. But there are other significant tournaments (Texas, Las Vegas, even NEWSS) that happen over Thanksgiving which are already established.

This week/weekend has both ECNL South Carolina and USYSL NL Showcase as the last weekend before the recruiting blackout.

Csll bethesda, cas, newss, ecnl, usys, etc and tell them you would like to add gda brackets to their tournaments. They will do it.

They don't have the fields to have all of the GDA added to their showcases and still have room for their main constituents.

EDP Fall Showcase had a "Super Group", but it was only 4 teams per age group.

Nice try sneaking in NEWSS, ugh, you should be shot.

ok then.. Poor helpless GDA. Even though no other programs requires multiple days of missed high school, they are helpless to do anything else.

The EDP Showcase Bracket you mention hardly had quality teams, lower level DA and ECNL like CSA and SUSA, only quality team team was PDA ECNL. If they did get the top teams to compete that would be something else...

Yes, exactly the point I was trying to make. No way these tournaments like CASL or Bethesda could provide GDA or ECNL Showcase-level event by simply “adding GDA brackets”.
