Missing more then half a week of High school, on consecutive days, in the middle of the second semester is a tall order for kids in tough NY academic high school programs any way you slice it. That is a lot of missed instruction at a time in the year when the teachers are piling it on.
Unnecessary for US soccer to create that destructive conflict.

In this area at least NJ is drivable, even SC could be if you wanted, while all GDA events are not.
Most of the time kids leave on Thursday or come back Monday during school.
Not sure how you come up with your numbers, but probably never been exposed to either league, and are just a miserable troll.

And PDA showcase does not require missed school, or plane tickets, Depending on the schedule - some can get away with no hotel. Lots of Northeast coaches from target schools for many NY players as well. Gotta love that PDA showcase!

Either way you slice it what US Soccer is doing is a complete joke no reason whatsoever to schedule these during a school week but to each its own.

Disney had their tournament over Thanksgiving last year, but moved it to mid-January for this season. Not sure why. But there are other significant tournaments (Texas, Las Vegas, even NEWSS) that happen over Thanksgiving which are already established.
This week/weekend has both ECNL South Carolina and USYSL NL Showcase as the last weekend before the recruiting blackout.

EDP Fall Showcase had a "Super Group", but it was only 4 teams per age group.

The EDP Showcase Bracket you mention hardly had quality teams, lower level DA and ECNL like CSA and SUSA, only quality team team was PDA ECNL. If they did get the top teams to compete that would be something else...
