that is the current model. There is big momentum for change.

Momentum for change financed by whom exactly? Who is interested in financing girls soccer outside of the parents of the players? There no other source to invest in it as there is no money to be made outside of the Olympics and world cups every four years.

Leads to some credence to the “too many teams in the area” theory.

Also worth noting most teams out west travel further than east
Agree. Add to that you now have to add another age group into the mix and we are spreading the talent even thinner.

really? so how does the USSF make any money on WoSo and what does it do with it? who pays for the infinite number of YNT camps domestic and foreign? How many trips would have to be cancelled per age group to fund say 5 regional academies? How much money do Nike pay US Soccer ? Why would they not have any interest in being associated with really helping the womens game here?

There are many sources of financing that are out there, but the whole premise of what we are developing and why needs to be addressed.

Im talking about the elite players. US Soccer has to decide if they want to compete with eh pro layer that is starting to exist elsewhere. If they dont, then thats fine. if they do, they need to accept that until there is a viable pathway for pro teams to develop young talent with pro potential, they need to fill that void.

the parent of the average kid will continue to overpay and get less and less in return because the only incentive there is for the Clubs to make profits

Why would we think this model would work when the rest of the world does it different? Why do we need to reinvent the wheel? It seems to work fine else where some of the money at the top develops the young players at the bottom.

Don't think squeezing the bottom to pay for the top is how it is done. As usual we arrogantly think we know better but seems dumb imo.

not sure i understand your point. The College system here changes the whole set up. It means college level players, and thats a huge range, play together. You get something of an ability based selection when it comes to commitment time, but you get kids who commit to Stanford as sophomores playing with kids who have no commits at all.

i dont think the bottom is being squeezed, everyone is. ina a way, Colleges are bidding oon talent based on how they value it thru the scholarship system, you just dont see that made public. If i told you that player a got offered a full ride from UCLA, that would be valuable when comparing her to Player B who got offered 10k from Elon. the issue is players with bad odds of getting a good outcome paying the same as players with a high probability of a great outcome.

In the RoW, the only players that get thru the net are perceived to be pro level. If they decide not to pursue that, you are seeing them start to comer here and take $$ out of the scholarship pool. point being they are constantly being evaluated and cannot buy their way into the system like you can here.

Lets have an ECNL system that graduates kids to one GDA team per area at irrespective of age . A player needs to have a positive report card from a neutral observer to be offered a place. would create a top of the pyramid immediately and allow the ECNL to continue to as is. If a club cannot put together enough players with positive grades, then no team.

The system is really best for some, usually affluent kids that have the ability and interest to pursue college soccer and to finance that pursuit (some rare exceptions get some assistance). Other players participate for a variety of reasons but it is mostly an expensive activity for kids. That is what we have. Makes little sense really but harmless enough I guess and what we have. No different then piano, or hockey or ballet or any number if other pursuits for kids.

Can I come stay at someone's house for a few days? My wife is on her way home with my daughter after taking yesterday and today off of work for my daughter's "rest" day Monday and her game got canceled today due to Snow. She is livid. I don't want to be anywhere near the house tonight...HELP
