Overheard a conversation with US Soccer scout and another coach yesterday at Penn Fusion. Clubs are panicking now that NYCFC pulled out. She was trying to assure They would be ok in the league. Didn’t sound convincing. RIP GDA

Never heard what was said by the earhawker. Was this to a college coach or club? Another GDA club to not jump ship or college that the recruiting level would still be worth it at GDA? You threw this out there and left the board! Come on man.

Was it a coach from one of the clubs that had to give up their ECNL badge to play? Shouldn't worry because those clubs were successful in ECNL and would probably be welcomed back. That's why ECNL was ticked off when they made their choice.

Didn't they all have to give up ECNL badges? I can't keep up anymore. Things in these leagues change way too much.

Bingo. How do sports that are supposed to be fun and recreational become more expensive than mortgages? There need to be caps implemented. I blame Got Soccer. It wasn't as horrible prior to the rankings even mattering.

Spoken like an entitled soccer jerk. Club costs are not locked down. They vary a lot from team to team, club to club, area to area. Travel back and forth, travel to all of the numerous events, transportation, eating on the road to and from practice, tolls, gas, equipment, uniforms, extra training, and more). Do that for several kids?

I’m sure US soccer does not care about the NE girls. They can focus their attention on the girls who are performing in their league. They only invite GDA East Coast Girls to camp now for appearances. At the younger age groups our girls are getting one or 2 invites and they are done with the exception of 4 girls who actually are great players

I'm not talking about me. I know families in this situation. And, yes, you sound entitled. You likened people who are spending a lot to give their kids opportunities (some kids have music lessons, education fees, dance lessons, reading coaches, SAT classes, driving classes...) to living in a cardboard box if they are paying more than their mortgages toward these items. That's jerky.

Hahaha, no. Kaz spoke to the parents the week before, and USSDA knew about it before the parents were told. I heard the new club will be called NYCFC/WORLD CLASS, therefore the big club is still involved, now that is interesting.

Explains the busts on the international stage. They should be looking for great players no matter where they are playing. They should be looking for the kids with the high level soccer iq, athletics, good technique, good technical, good teammate and coachable. These are the unicorns they need and they aren't league specific.
