its naive to think that the USSF can keep us ahead of countries in which exposure to the game starts so young. These countries are now creating places for women to play AND constantly seelcting teh best and matching them with teh best environments and coaches BASED ON TALENT.

We cannot compete with that as constructed. Forget what is right or wrong. If Jane in the UK is playing at Chelsea for 13years old she is going to have a greater likelihood of being a better player than Mia who is playing HS and/or Club then College. None of Mias decisions have to be based on her true soccer potential. Janes do.

as soon as soccer countries build critical mass of kids that want that option, its game over.

there really arent. all of these leagues are based on players. if you take essentially the same pool of players you are going to end in the same place. Sure there are cosmetic differences, but they are not going to make a difference.

I disagree. Just reading the by-lines for each league will tell you that.

You can not agree with either approach, but to say they are the same isn't true.

ha, I have also learned since dealing with coaches that while we pay big money to the clubs these people are actually quite stupid. Is it from heading the ball when they were young?

I agree. Whenever I want to lean on someone's expertise, I always find it most beneficial to talk to someone who is two-layers away from direct experience and only know what they know by watching their kids and what I see on TV.

            First-hand experience means nothing...

US soccer’s mission is to find the best players in each age group. They do not care about the other players that make up the team. If your daughter wants to play in the NWSL then GDA is the way to go. If your kid wants to use soccer as an avenue to get into college, then ECNL or NL are your choices. It’s so simple it’s scary. Find a club your kid is happy with and enjoy geez

                What an arrogant statement.

First, you make a definitive statement on how someone should make a decision.

Then, you finish it off with a "find a club your kid is happy with".

The two statements are in conflict with each other.

No one said first hand experience means nothing. But you don't need to be an "expert" to see the WNT sucks and most can't even make or receive a decent pass.

I'm not a chef but I know when the food I ordered tastes good or it sucks. I never said what to do to fix the problem only that it is obvious to the most casual observer that there is a problem.

                    Got it.

So, just chalk it up to someone with no direct knowledge on how to make something work, offers no solutions, and add nothing of value.

In other words, just another fart in the wind.

So you don't like it when someone who doesn't have experience in soccer tells those that do how to do what they are doing and you don't like it when they don't? Got it.

                      You must be a coach.

Yes, because all of the top players in GDA got that way only in the last year. Their previous stints with ECNL were garbage and their parents were stupid then but much wiser now. Furthermore, why would any player aspire to NWSL where she can work two other jobs to try to make ends meet? GDA is finished and NWSL is a dead end for the time being (until it dies out like every other minor league soccer league ... especially women's).

Listen guys.....the us men will never ever, ever win a world cup...ever. The women may or may not as it is evident the rest of the world has caught up to the woman.

the US format for developing players is mostly dependent on private clubs working independently of each other (for profit!!!!!). even if your club has that one kid that is a 1 in 10,000 type of kid. Good luck getting your local club to lose the kid. More money is made in the US soccer industry than anywhere else in the world...its huge business. The us soccer industry is more than double revenue wise than countries like spain and france.

This unfortunately will never, ever change...there is just too much money at stake.

Nah, I just take it for what's it's worth. No different then someone saying "my cell is ALWAYS dropping calls" or "my service NEVER works" and "those cars are ALL pieces of crap". You take it, you chuckle at it, and move along.

You see, the OP didn't say anything about how to do it...just that what they (with their own admitted unknowledgeable eyes) say isn't working.

For the same reason why I'm standing at the mechanic telling them they should be using a Snap-On wrench instead of the Craftsmen he's holding....

Sounds like you are advocating for a change in the mindset, where the clubs operate independently but with a central oversight and training plan to follow.

                              I agree.

LOL nobody aspires to play in NWSL, nobody pushes it and nobody thinks about it. Basically, one can't afford to play in NWSL
