It's probably a gentleman's agreement. Most likely they didn't want to embarrass themselves out there and/or want having parents pi$$ed off about traveling all the way out there

Let's not be so hard. Besides Surf NY teams leaving a lot to be desired in the realm of competitiveness, it isn't easy for a NY team to get there for a Thanksgiving tournament.

Probably not - besides, why go all the way out there when most kids want to attend a school within half a day's drive of home. Yes I know they get coaches from all over, but West coast events tend to be dominated by west coast coaches. I'd think families would be much happier with less travel and a better mix of schools at the many quality tourneys on this coast

I thought Larry said Surf had not applied to ECNL yet.

Not that any of us 'cept 1 expect them to get it.

Larry, just because you're in bed with Surf NY doesn't mean you know all their secrets. Pillow talk only gets you so far.

I don't think that was from Larry, more like a parent trying to catch the wave. It's hard to believe the rhetoric coming from this group is associated with Surf SD, which is a decent club. Surf, just like a lot of other clubs (though not all), ONLY care about the money; providing decent service is only a concern if it is required to make the money. Usually, it's not needed, talk is all that's needed.

                    Something isn't right in Larry-land.

Sue Ryan is coaching Surf 00's "Suffolk" team but there was no Broadway BOTN announcement about her new position. Looks like Surf muzzled Larry on these coach announcements.

Or muzzle their checkbook. Nothing will earn scorn from LM more than being an ex advertiser.

Sue Ryan is not a Surf coach and neither is Mark Nash. They are employed by Stony Brook and the girls on these teams are all registered with Stony Brook. Surf made a deal where they get to use the Stony Brook fields for training in return for lending the two Stony Brook U17 girls teams the Surf name. The Stony Brook coaches believe that the Surf name will get these teams into higher level college showcases than the Stony Brook/NY Rush name will.

Ryan coaching under the Surf banner has been in the works for several months. I remember Surf adding Ryan's name to a Surf team back in late June/early July. I posted about it on BOTN. Post never got posted but shortly thereafter Ryan's name was removed. Larry obviously tipped off Surf.

Sue Ryan is NOT a surf coach no matter what LM is claiming. My daughter is on the teams she is coaching. Sue Ryan and the two 00 teams are all Stony Brook, money flowing through Stony Brook, registration being done by Stony Brook, practicing at Stony Brook, the full deal. The only Surf connection is that they bought some cheap Surf t-shirts and will be entering some tournaments under the Surf name in the belief that this will help them get into some of the more exclusive college showcases.

The situation may change in the future but there is no formal Surf partnership and Sue Ryan is getting her paychecks from Stony Brook.

I'm sure when LM checks in here later he'll try and refute that!

There is no such thing as an informal agreement with Surf. I think you need to talk to Sue some more and see if even she knows what's between Stony Brook and Surf.
