All of our checks are still being written out to Three Village Soccer including the check last week to cover the Surf t-shirts to be used this weekend at Discovery Cup. Things may change in the near future but right now we are still Stony Brook teams and the coaches are being paid from the Stony Brook bank account.

I'm curious -- are the costs under SB similar to what Surf charges?

Stony Brook was just under $1,500. If I read the FAQ correctly Surf charges just under $2,500 for U17 on Long Island. But if you believe everything you read on the Surf FAQ you also get some extra's included such as entry into a Winter League so it's a bit of an apples and oranges comparison.

You should see the shenanigans going on between Stonybrook and the younger Surf teams.

Will SB/NY Rush merge was Surf like NJ Rush did with SJEB (South Jersey Barons Elite)?

              Please elaborate...

HBC Impact is becoming the Surf 00 LI team. With the 01 and 02 teams being the former ISA/Atletico teams that's a pretty strong lineup.

Stony Brook University Women's coach Flaherty is officially linked to Surf with these girls. Sue Ryan, the former Stony Brook University Women's coach is also linked but in an unofficial manner. Her job with US Youth Soccer precludes her going to any games/tournaments that are sanctioned by US Club so she is more on the training and college prep end of things.

I'm actually somewhat impressed that Surf has pulled this off.

Impressed with what? Taking other club's teams in? I thought Surf would build teams based on their name and them selling hard their connections to San Diego Surf. That would have been very impressive.

Someone needs to help the U14G team. 0 GF 31 GA. Ouch.

I'm impressed that they convinced these other teams to switch. I can't yet comment on their training abilities because as you pointed out, they simply grabbed top teams intact for the older age groups.

I believe that Stony Brook is going to regret abandoning NY Rush for Surf in the long run but as an affiliate, not fully part of Surf, it shouldn't be that big a deal for them. A few hundred kids are going to have to buy new uniforms though.

Agreed it's not easy to convince a group to move over altogether. It's almost easier to pluck one player here, another there and cobble together a team. Now let's see what Surf does with it

I am not so sure. I have seen many teams switch clubs throughout the years. If the coach can articulate that the new club is better, all the girls will want to stay together and jump

More often wholesale team moves involve a team moving with the coach they already have. Less common to move to a new, and in this case very unproven, club. To the op's point surf now has to show what they can do.

Once PR gets his GDA up and running many of those girls will leave Surf for Fury. It's not personal, it's always about playing at the highest level for top athletes. Always!

That's the only way that happens is when the coach orchetrates it ... that was the point

not the op but I've seen parent(s) orchestrate it more than once
