My prediction? NY Surf will just be LI Surf in a year's time ... the LI parents seem to accept anything you throw at them.

After NY Surf was rejected as a club by the WYSL they moved to the fledgling WYSL PREMIER league where, I think, they have one team registered under, and get this, the name MANHATTAN Surf. What a fiasco.
I totally agree that they put too much faith in LM. But they also came in guns a blazin' thinking they could waltz into town using their West coast reputation to attract players and do what they wanted. Anyone in this area knows what a nightmare it is to get fields and you nurture relationships with anyone who has them.

That claim that they were "planning" it for 18 months is absurd. IF they'd really done their homework the whole introduction wouldn't have been such a sh** show.

This doesn't apply to PDA. They are like the Kentucky Wildscats MBB team: they don't rebuild - they reload. 😄

PDA certainly isn't representative of most clubs, not by a Kentucky mile :)

I'm confused. Is this the WYSL Premier you are taking about?

BOTN had a long bit about the fact that NY Surf tried to become a member club of the WYSL with its Westchester Soccer Club but the sepErate Larchmont and Mamaroneck voted to not allow it. This was in June I think.

In July the WYSL started up this new premier league and this new league accepted ny surf. Looks like surf put a 2007 boys team and a u14 girls team in this league.

                Teams are called Manhattan Surf.

wrong - ny surf just has boys in that league - MSC on their website lists a team named Surf it's just a team name MSC chose no relation ;-). Also if wysl board hated ny surf why would they let them be a founding member of their new premier league that they govern. This is all much about nothing - time to move on...

I don't see NY Surf listed as a founding member at that link.

I didn't say that the WYSL hated ny surf, I said that the other Larchmont and Mamaroneck community clubs successfully lobbied against letting them be a WYSL member club. I won't go into the reasons.

But you're right about there only being a single boys team in that premier league.

And I just checked the website which seems to have just been updated. The other day it did list NY Surf as a founding member but no more. Probably a programming error, right?

This is the correct link and I don't see the deodorant dispenser logo either.

There is no mention of Surf being a founding member on their website or Twitter account.

The second link is the actual website and it looks like it came after the first one. CFC is no longer listed but Surf is and I think a couple more.

Surf probably wasn't there at the beginning because they were too focused on the girls side.
