They are openly soliciting parents, players and teams from Smithtown, Lake Grove and Sachem to move over to Surf/Stony Brook mid-year. That's flies directly in the face of LIJSL poaching rules.

No need to engage Nelly here - agreed stony brook integrating surf's curriculum, trainers, Surf guest play experiences, and programming can enhance the club's development experience - that's obvious.

If it actually occurs .. if the Surf franchise is expanding rapidly do they really have enough trainers to throw at SB. The non Surf trainers may not teach the Surf curriculum. What happens at games or tournaments when SB gets doesn't get the attention.

At this point it's all sunshine and roses.

Surf isn't, but Stony Brook as a club still has LIJSL teams.

I think you will see that change in the next month or two. The boys need a higher level of coaching too.

Looks like they are addressing the boys side - I see they added Danny Gwyther - yet another NCAA Men's Coach and former Pro...DOC Diploma too - great pickup. My count has three Men's NCAA coaches now on staff...I think they are 10+ total NCAA coaches now in their club...pretty impressive.

You don't get all those coaches without a big commitment - resources, time and money. Even though they started off rocky I'm sure they will become a powerhouse within 2-3 years.

One problem I have is Kim and Sue and Surf. How many national team players did each coach produce prior to joining Surf? Say the last 10 years. Have they produced as many as Alby and EM?

Yes Kim and Sue have easily over 20+ but if you were a soccer insider you would know that and even question them as their reputations are well known inside USSF and Region 1. They are very well respected.

It's more about what will be done moving forward. They've assembled a very good management/coaching team in a very short period of time. But if you don't have confidence in that then don't have your kid tryout. Pretty simple. Besides, is your kid a NT potential player? If not then you shouldn't worry right?
