There is no way Surf spends money on a lawsuit here as the ROI doesn't exist. At best they would be able to punish DV, which might make them feel better, but it's a cash dump.

I agree. They are using LM to tarnish DV's reputation but wouldn't ever pay for an attorney.
They'll find someone else to run Futsal. Not a big deal at all. Honestly I respect the guy more now. Looks like he was smart to get out

If anybody still thought he was impartial they cannot possibly think that now.
Larry has been called a lot of things. Impartial is not one of them!

This is why I would NEVER send my kid to Surf or SUSA for that matter...because they associate with this Miller guy.

Surf is all hype...hype made up by a 73 year old loser in life, who is clearly an uneducated person.

To me this only hurts surf, not Danilo.

Agree. And what kind of message does this send to other coaches who Surf may recruit. Makes Surf look really bad.

Good point. What coach would want to work for them and risk damaging their reputationsite even more? I bet more quietly depart over the next few months as soon as they think they have a good way out

Let's be honest, Surf failed. They licensed a name (sound familiar?), paid independent trainers to bring over teams and only formed a very small handful of homegrown teams because there are too many clubs as it is. Tournament, failed. HS event, failed. The formed teams were crushed because in their wisdom they threw them in EDP D1 (think -25 or worse GD). They added futsal with the top futsal trainer in NY, failed. They promised ECNL and even published it on their site in 2016, fail. Promised GDA, fail.

The college coach angle sounded interesting but that also failed as those coaches have significant duties with their college jobs leaving them little time to devote to a club soccer team. And to be honest there they have simply leveraged coaches who were already involved with local soccer clubs.

Somehow Larry has managed to keep some momentum going despite everything NY Surf touches has been an epic fail.

Now parents before you defend them I am 100% sure their intentions were noble but did NY really need another club or should someone just step up and improve an existing club with an existing base? There are probably a dozen clubs just on LI that have over 1500 players. Fixing one of them would have accomplished something meaningful.

To me this is just the latest example of another rich guy that thinks he can make the elusive buck in youth soccer. News flash: any business with a low barrier to entry will always be a low margin barley profitable business.

Larry was their main problem. When you digitally commit to things people can reference it later when it doesn't work as you have done.

Maybe less talk, more action is needed?

They clearly relied on LM too much for advice on what they should do, where to plant their flag etc. Rather than trying to right the ship on their own they doubled down on LM. He's gone off the deep end on slamming this guy and makes Surf look even worse for using him to do their dirty work. And if they actually gave him a copy of the contract to publish? Incredibly unprofessional to air your dirty laundry like that.

I agree. Like I said earlier, if they had a good legal position they would not have resorted to public shaming of Danilo. I have to imagine their ability to recruit talent going forward will be significantly impaired because of the unprofessional manner in their handling of this.

I would also guess a few current coaches will quietly depart.

Ron Alber selling out (for good reason $$$).. that folks is the key here. Ron and KK stay together, no one on LI comes close to be the club they could have been.

I know LM wants to think we were all being anti-surf with our comments, but HS's really do have a ton of regulations preventing them from participating in something like that. And even if there weren't, school budget constraints would prevent the coaches from spending the money on salaries and transportation. And that's assuming that the players were even available.

Even LM declared that DOA awhile ago.

I cannot believe Surf pays Larry. Once again he proved how far removed he is from soccer and nothing more than a basement blogger profiting from something he is clueless about.

A Labor Day tournament for HS teams? What a moron.

Surf, please stop paying Larry and do the opposite of what he says. It worked for George Costanza, it'll work for you also.
