Regardless of whether the act was intentional or not, the fact is that the girl had to be taken to the hospital in an ambulance, had a concussion and needed surgery. That the coach reacted to a player's serious injury with a flippant comment like "Welcome to the game" loud enough for the players and families to hear it while the player was on the ground screaming in pain is unacceptable.

This is not hockey...getting elbowed in the face with enough force to cause a broken nose and concussion is not part of the game of soccer.

I doubt she was trying to hurt her but unfortunately physical intimidation its becoming part of the game now and the refs are allowing it. It is a natural progression when the pushing, holding and straight arms are not being called....players will push the limits and many times its the reaction and frustration of being fouled all game with no calls ....that leads to this.

I believe it is lowering the level of soccer in our area...so when teams travel to play in other areas of the country and the games are called by the rules...our teams don't do so well....

Yes, and you’re watching a vintage soccer, professional match.

This is youth sports at U15 girls level.

            Context and perspective are needed.

Today, FIFA is promoting “fair play” at highest levels, across competition. There was punishment of the Bulgarian National team recently, and in the Nations League, due to Mexican fans’ behavior, there may be punishment.

Expectations at youth level should be even higher, these are our future leaders!

            Welcome to the game!

Was the player given a Red card? That is a big problem in youth soccer, games are not called to rules. If a player deserves a yellow to red, they should be given. It is how you learn.

Refs need to keep games safe

Refs are chicken **** to give cards.
I’ve seen GK taken off fields in ambulances and over the top dirty play.
No reds, no yellow, not even a foul.

The coach should have been given a red, pretty horrible behaviour.

                    He should still be sanctioned.

Has CSA put this coach on leave?

He should be gone for good from “coaching” youth soccer. The league will hopefully take action.

The coach in question is actually the Director of the whole Hudson Valley branch.

Let me get this straight, your debating an incident that happened at a division of the club 3 hours away. You know nothing about the incident other than digging around Facebook posts, you know nothing about the people involved, you know nothing about the coach himself and yet you are calling for him to be put on leave? This is exactly what is wrong with our country.

It’s actually 30-40 min away from the NJ line so not that far. That club travels to the area to play games in Bergen so it is related imo.

Maybe the info is good to know, but the speculation is unnecessary and exactly what is wrong with our country. Every keyboard warrior has an opinion about everything and has no issue punching those keys regardless of their limited, speculative knowledge of the situation.
