1. I think Ironbound were let in because the club was good all around but I think Ironbound only selected 2 of their teams to play MLS Next which were 2010 and 2011.
2.The older teams are pretty good especially the 2007 Boys but on the girls side Ironbound isn’t that good as their boys team
3.I think FA was not let in because the club overall was not that good like Ironbound. So maybe FA can make these top leagues in a few years.

That does not really answer the questions. Why wouldn't Ironbound want their other teams in?

FA as a stand alone club has been around for 3 years. A few established boys teams spun off from Centercourt during the covid lockdown with Neil and Mark starting FA literally in the new dome around the corner. This was the 2010 and 2011 teams. They are good at marketing and play a ton of tournaments. Do they have a few very good boys teams? Sure, but 3 years isn’t a track record. The 2010 team has played 4 seasons in usys (playing up 2 years ago) and has never finished first. Congrats they won the state cup this past year…none of the top teams play u13. The 2011 team was arguably the best of their teams. 2 boys went to RB last year and 1 has left this year for another MLSN team while winning quit a few big tournaments and the state cup.

Unfortunately 2 or 3 teams doing well for 3 years, while every team 2009 and older does nothing, doesn’t make much of an argument for membership to ecnl or mlsn.

Looks common practice to start the expansion teams with u13&u14 with the idea to add the older ages in following years. The clubs probably have to show they can provide good competition & meet the league standards before admitting all their teams.

If i remember correctly, same thing happened to TSF when they joined MLS. Their U13 and U14 teams were accepted first and the following younger teams thereafter. None of the older teams were accepted. If FA ever gets accepted to MLS it will be because of their 2010 and 2011 teams but those teams won't ever get to play MLS. They'll be too old.

Options:
1. Join an MLSnext club while young because easier to join the younger you are.
2. Stay and develop at a smaller club, pros: more play time, more focus, not as cutthroat cons: depending on player/environment, possibly don't develop as well bc playing weaker competition. With the goal to join an MLSnext team in U15+ years bc by then you should know if you are really serious about it
3. Just play anywhere that matches your level and stop obsessing over other clubs, who plays where, why that club made it and this one didnt. Let your kids enjoy playing kids soccer.

So what is the standard? Is it pro or bust for your kid? The top HS programs in NJ are usually comprised of kids from top clubs and in many cases those kids play in college.

Hopefully more than high school soccer.

FA parents, just go to RB. If your kid isn't good enough, then why do you want to play MLS anyway, you are just fine in EDP

Lol they will be winning lots of USYS trophies and obscure out of state invitational tournaments so the dads will be happy with those medals.

I agree to a point. There is probably a clear maybe top 10 kids that play at Red Bull. Kids 11-20 at Red Bull could easily be replaced by kids from other MLS Next clubs or even FA. Red Bull team
would stay at exact same level. If the top say 20 kids were all at Red Bull they would dominate every game they play vs other 2011s and that doesn’t happen.
