2 csa bergen teams played edp in the fall - 1 in the top flight and 1 in the IV flight.

the IV flight team is in the same flight in the spring but the top flight team disappeared - not in u13 either

I would guess playing only NEAL instead of both NEAL and EDP. Just a guess though.

This is the year unfortunately where things really change and the clubs actions will really show how they feel about your son. All MLS teamsPDA, TSF, REAL, CSA will bring in new talent and cut current players ( even players who have been on the team for years!) very rarely do these clubs actually develop talent, all the talent just starts coming to them. Good luck everyone!

Well we can say what we want about the state of youth soccer, at least it's still a meritocracy. I won't complain if my kid doesn't make the cut, I will just use that as a reason to work harder.

You mean U12 is the year where all MLS team will bring in lots of new talented players? Or is that happening at U13?

U12 is in the final stretch and tryouts for next year are around the corner… some kids are moving for spring but the bigger changes come for next fall at u13

U12 Kids currently attending MLS Next club practices ahead of tryouts to try and get in early. The roster sizes increase from 9v9 to 11v11 so there will be some movement. Teams will be looking to go to 16-18 kids and might have only been at 12-14 before.

A lot of the EDP teams will start to lose a lot of talent over the next few months. That's why they are starting to send out offers so early, so they trap kids. That won't stop me from sending my kid to different tryouts.

Anyone know try out dates for all MLS Next Clubs except for Red Bulls?

I know Monmouth because they send out an email every other day lol I see why people slander CSA Monmouth here

TSF tryouts are at: Pio Costa, 306 Big Piece Pond Road, Fairfield, NJ 07004
                      Tuesday, March 28th 5-6pm
                      Thursday, March 30th 5-6pm

PDA already had a talent ID Clinic on Feb 13th and they have a 2nd one tentatively scheduled Monday, March 13th
Not sure they are doing "tryouts" or just using the talent ID Clinics which are really tryouts anyway.

                      CSA Monmouth tryouts are:
                      Monday, March 20th 8-9:15pm
                      Tuesday, March 21st 8-9:15pm
                      Monday, March 27th 8-9:15pm
                      Tuesday, March 28th 8-9:15pm

CSA North are doing a talent ID on March 4th 12:30-2pm at FDU

It might be a good idea to move to MLS Next club during U11 or U12 age. Chance to enter into MLS next team at U13 might become higher.

You can move earlier but not sure it is a must, I think moving for U13 is a good idea. EDP looks like it falls off pretty quickly in terms of quality teams.

You can move at u14 as well. U13 is learning curve of 11v11. Big difference. Don’t need to drive all over the north east while learning can be done more localized.

Yes but also a year with training with more talent will be helpful too. At all of the MLS Next clubs there will be better kids coming to tryout to play in this league. Practicing with higher level kids matters. Who cares about driving far if it’s a good game. Crushing local EDP teams isn’t a good learning experience.

I stand by what I said. It can most certainly wait a year. Rosters of 18 kids and playing hopefully 30 minutes a weekend for league games in MLS Next only is also not as great of a development development plan as you are making it sound. Drive 3 hours each way to play 30 minutes is not giving you enough playing time or opportunities to learn. that can wait till people learn 11v11 a year without the large rosters. Those same kids who rush to MLS at u13 get replaced by better kids at u14.

Also, The Mid Atlantic conference teams isn’t exactly just “local EDP” teams. They are pulling from NJ, NY, PA, DE. Just because you attach “MLS” to a team name it doesn’t make them
magically better. Some of the top 2010 NJ teams this year not in the MLS league have played in friendlies vs the MLS teams and ECNL teams and both beat them and tied them all with their inferior rosters and training and league games. 3 letters don’t make you superior.
