When you have that much talent, you have to setup many different flights. If you look at the 2nd flight (you have one of the top 3 teams out of NYE) even the 3rd highest flight (Top 3 teams out of MD)

I know of 5 NJ teams that applied and didn’t get accepted

Anyone know how to get early access to the EDP Spring flights? Saw some posts on Instagram of a team showing their bracket opponents

What 5 teams? I was told all who apply will be accepted as long as they do not mess up their paperwork.

I can only speak for my situation. My child's acceptance letter to FA specifically said "We are pleased to offer <name> a position on the following team:"

They named the specific year/color team, attached a commitment letter, and gave x amount of time to confirm or decline.

We don't have any experience with how the larger clubs present offers, but it seemed pretty straight forward. The commitment letter attached to the email filled in many of the other details.

I'm not sure why you would accept an offer if you did not have all of the details before hand and were expecting something different from what you ended up with.

The bait and switch by clubs is commonplace. Too often they invite you to one team and you get placed with another. The fine print is in almost every contract "the club reserves the right to change teams at any time".
Or the other version is they say max kids will be 13 on a roster and then it becomes 16 on Team Snap.

Fair enough. OP never mentioned that they were offered a specific team, just that they found out a month after accepting what team they would be rostered on.

I agree that if they offer a child a roster spot on a specific top tier team to get them to commit, then move them to a lower tier before even playing a game, that's wrong and I am pretty sure it could be considered a breach of contract. It is poor marketing practices if they do this for everyone.

However, if the child really doesn't gel with the team or perform well during games, then it is probably best that they be moved to a roster where they fit in better and are able to develop with similarly skilled peers. If the child is at the top end of their group, they will have opportunities to fill in at higher level games due to injured players/vacations/can't make it/etc.

In the end, all of these organizations are for profit.

many of these organizations need to keep up enrollment but are actually not for profit. This is public info and you can look

Not for profit means you pay yourself whatever is left over so there is no "profit" to report. Has nothing to do with actually not profiting from the sham-

Do your homework before you make such assertions. Not every club is run to collect all that’s left over. There are a couple like that but not all. I liken a lot of these clubs to some rich guys having hobbies. Just wanting to bring the game they love to kids and have a better experience than rec soccer. I don’t think the owner of cedar stars needs the money from csa. And a couple others i could mention but it doesn’t matter to you. You don’t care but to think this is purely a big business. You have no idea the amount of money that goes into up keeping these organizations. Many of these organizations have financial aid and give free tuition to chose in need.

Can someone please explain to my why after 2011 everyone is so fixated on mls next clubs? I don’t understand what happens after 2011 with edp and mls next ? So if my kid is not on an mls next team will be more get recognition? Sorry, I’m just newer to this and it’s so confusing. Feeling overwhelmed!

It's not recognition It's the competition level. EDP at 11v11 is basically a notch above req.

Currently, although not fair, this is how it works.... you would ideally have your child play on an MLS Next or ECNL team because of the completion level...

CSA North Bergen Pre-Academy, CSA North Bergen Pre-Academy 2, CSA Monmouth Green & White and TSF Academy Blue & White will all be out of EDP and in the North East Academy League starting in the fall of 2022. The Following year PDA will join that group and be in the MLS Next league with their top teams and 2nd teams. The New York Red Bulls pre-Academy teams also leaves EDP this Fall (Sep 2022) and play in the Acela league with Philadelphia Union and Real JFC among other top PA/DE teams before moving to the MLS Next league. On top of all of those teams no longer playing in EDP... Both STA and Match Fit play in the ECNL league with their 2nd teams playing ECRL. PDA has their 2nd or 3rd teams play in the ECNL league as well after MLS Next teams. Then Morris Elite plays in the USL league. Furthermore, rosters expand as the teams move from 9v9 to 11v11. You have to figure a lot of the top players from teams not listed earlier will join those teams further weakening the remaining teams. So in total: 2 CSA North teams, 2 CSA Monmouth teams, 2 TSF teams, 3/4 PDA teams, 2 Real JFC teams, 2 Match Fit teams, 2 STA teams and 1 Morris Elite team, plus the kids that are lucky enough from NJ to make an MLS Academy like NY Red Bull, NYC FC or Philadelphia Union..... all those kids say good-bye to EDP within the next year or 2. The talent level of EDP overall plummets. Approximately 18 or so 11v11 teams will be gone from EDP with the majority of them being the highest level teams/kids.

There will still be some good talent left in EDP, just much, much less. Some families wont like the travel that is required in those leagues or the fact that MLS doesnt allow the majority of players to play on their HS teams. EDP manages the Mid Atlantic conferences for those teams that are left behind to provide them some better competition and that is team by team basis instead of entire clubs being in the other leagues. That will mix some of the better NJ teams with some of the better PA teams that aren't playing in the top leagues to get them better league games during the season. The same thing happens in the other states as well though so the top PA teams will be in MLS next and ECNL too..

Those teams that leave for other leagues will not only be playing in different leagues, but also in different tournaments/ showcases as well. Example MLS Showcase in CA or FL or ECNL showcases in CA, AZ, SC, FL, TX or VA. Those teams wont be going to tournaments like Jeff Cup or any of the EDP Cups and clubs from outside the leagues are not allowed to enter the tournaments/showcases.

Thanks for the in-depth answer. There are some nuggets of gold here periodically that shine through all of the mud that gets slung.

I also think STA joined the USL academy for Mt. Olive. At least that is what I saw on a post.
