At this age, its all EDP so it doesn’t matter. At U13, the general consensus is now MLS next, but it still depends on the team. Generally, its all alphabet soup. There are very good teams in every league. Focus on development, environment and most of all the happiness of your kid. If your kid is good enough, the rest will sort itself out. -

Thoughts
We are in this program right now and it is good for player development (this is mainly due to the coach). They have not mentioned who will coach next year but you should know before you commit to anything. Especially at the price tag that most of these academies require. I have been in situations at different places where you are promised to play with one team and then end up playing in a different group and being coached by a less experienced coach. In your shoes ask to be invited to regular training sessions, try to attend look at game. In attending these sessions what you need to look for is the skill level of the coach. If the coach can teach even the less talented will learn in an academy environment. Do not settle for anything less.Originally posted by Unregistered View Post
Youth soccer in general is not really "soccer" as the physically of the bigger teams prevails and so you will see players running doing what they call a high press (all it is sprint forward no real tactics) and quick transitional play (counter attacks the biggest fastest runs with the ball and attempts scoring). Once the kids starting moving to U12,U13 and in some cases you have to wait until u15 to start seeing some level of soccer (change point of the attack, controlling the tempo, applying zonal vs a high press when defending) coming out of the field.
Now do other countries have U9s that play at the level you see at U12-U15 here in the States for sure.Comment
