which "team" were you accepted? the blue team plays at a higher flight - the white team plays in a very good flight for a second team. Will they combine to 1 team at 9v9 or keep 2 teams at 9v9?

I would doubt that MLS next will be letting in too many more clubs in the are, especially north NJ. There are already a lot of teams in one area. I get the idea of the money grab but there are some clubs that won’t have a shot. I think unfortunately FA won’t get it and neither would STA. They are too close to the existing clubs and right in RB back yard. That would mean 6 teams in a 20 mile area...not likely.

The USL2 route may be more possible but right now they only allow 1 team per county.

How does the MLS Next work? Is it regular league play, Fall and Spring? Which teams are in the MLS next right now in NJ or is it more than just NJ?

MLS next is the top league for boys throughout the country. The teams from NJ are are PDA, CSA Monmouth, TSF, Real Jersey and NY Red Bull in the Mid Atlantic flight with other top clubs from PA, MD and VA. CSA Bergen is also in it but they are in the North East flights with other top NY teams and clubs up to Boston area. They won’t be adding more teams from NJ. Those are the clubs tho choose from to be in that league.

If you are close, I would look at Ironbound or Kearny and save your money this year.

So basically to play at the highest level at U13 you gotta be in one of those few NJ teams correct? That's an eye opening learning.

There are also a few USL academy teams scattered throughout the state as well. I think the teams though are U15-U17 all in one team.

I guess the lesson is that at a certain point you have to leave the small club and try get on the large club radar before it's too late. I am assuming the MLS next teams aren't holding try outs like the Red Bulls do or the typical EDP clubs every spring. So if that academy team is performing they won't be doing much recruiting.

How would you compare ECNL and MLS Next for the boys side in terms of recruiting for college and professional? Is it true that ECNL lets you also play high school soccer but MLS Next won't?

ECNL allows high school. MLS Next does not

EDP has told clubs they are doing a summer league, but have not provided details yet.

they all hold tryouts yearly just like pretty much every club. they might not add many players year to year, but they do have tryouts.

What's more competitive? MLS? Or is it somewhat comparable?
