My niece played at Rutgers a few years ago when they made it to the finals. She was treated like royalty. Trips on private buses with steak dinners in NYC, private flights to finals, you name it, she did it, and she dressed for one game and never even stepped foot on the pitch for a game. They can make significant cuts to their teams and still be ok

Please stick to Rutgers what does that have to do with PDA....totally separate and independent organizations with no interaction or business partnership.

A number of R coaches are also coaches at PDA (men and women’s teams). They use R facilities for camps and extra training sessions (money goes to coach) and recruit from a club within 50 miles of R.

Probably there are other more ethical violations:
- players being recruited early (and invited to extra sessions)
- R players and PDA R commits practice frequently
- PDA on board of directors for ECNL and holds 75% of NJ teams in ECNL
- R commits get preferential treatment for PDA games

Did I read that right? The football coach has an 8yr $32m contract? The guy is a .500 coach and an abysmal 28-48 in the Big Ten. He took a 10% pay cut for the next 4 months....I'll do it for 10% of what he's making. Can't possible be any worse.

And McMurphy was involved in the negotiations. This guy loves to hemmorage money at OUR expense.
Cut social programs but pay a crazy salary to second class football program.

I think the taxpayers need to reach out to Dept of Justice in Washington. I wonder if PDA applied for stimulus funds?

NCAA picks up tab on a lot of that too when you get to cup. They did not make finals....semi finals. PennState vs Duke were finals and PSU won. I was at the final four.

NCAA rules state that Sophomores can’t be communicated to by D1 coaches prior to June 15th of their Sophomore year. You think that’s happening? MR coaches the 2003 team this year. That is made up of Sophomore and Juniors. You don’t think that is illegal. Massive conflict of interest. I am sure if you dig further into the NCAA rules there is a lot of violations,
Including recruiting when coaching for PDA at events.

What is your “real” issue regarding Rutgers and PDA? There is nothing inappropriate because of “free will” of potential student/athletes. Major universities all over the country have assistant coaches who also play prominent roles at some of the best clubs. The need/want those jobs to supplement there incomes. If they happen to be a “feeder” for a college what is your issue? Players/students have the free will/choice to make there own decisions about where they want to be a student/athlete in college. What is inappropriate about that? Go look at the list of PDA players who are going to play at other P5 Conference schools. Plenty of players chose to go elsewhere. In every sport coaches always try to keep there “homegrown” talent in State. Nothing wrong or inappropriate about that. Good for Rutgers for keeping homegrown kids in State.
