GAL clubs really missed the boat. Consolidation is healthy for the industry and better for the girls. ECNL made a big leap towards improving competition for the girls. It would of been nice to see the weaker DA clubs all join USYS. Two national leagues is all that is needed. This GAL experiment is going to be very watered down. Parents of talented kids will see it pretty quick after one season.

I think the major error was in not conolidating all the DA clubs with USYS NL to create a true, national league with real #'s, showcase ability to be a real alternative to ECNL. I think the rush to just get something, anything done in the wake of the DA is why we are where we are. Not worried bc my kids still in middle school, is in good standing with her team and seems to be improving at a high rate. If she continues on her track, she'll make an ecnl team in a year or two for recruiting years. if not, she'll enjoy HS and ease off the pedal.
Great perspective and attitude wish more parents would think along the same lines, some but jobs out there are killing their kids, I have a buddy who’s forcing his son to train 2-3 times a day and he’s going to burn out.

serious question- I'm trying to figure out what comes first "the chicken or the egg"
If STA was given ECNL , Do you think they would be a better alternative than Matchfit?
Would the ECNL patch automatically upgrade them to get and keep better quality players.? would the ECNL patch be a selffilling prophecy in the eventual quality of any club?

No. They should focus on one league GAL or USYS as being in both really cannibalizes their own brand. On one hand promoting the GAL as the better alternative but at the same time telling everyone USYS is not great while having their own teams in it.

I do agree the the club will remain. I just wish they would understand their niche. The turnover of players just is unsettling. If they just admitted they are the club helps the middle tier players, they would kill it. There are more middle tier players than super stars.

Parents who have a talented player will always take their child to the better league if they can afford to. STA just doesn't have the attraction anymore.

Still plenty to support a Gal program. They will do just fine for the next year.; but if the GAL does not pan out, then a lot more players will be looking for greener pastures. They have one shot to get it right.
