But, ECNL has no incentive to do that. They've positioned themselves well and have marketed a product that the masses believe in full. No other reason to believe one needs to drive 4 hours for a season game unless it's through marketing. If ECNL made it more regionalized, their entire marketing schtick is gone.

Reality is, like any competition, you are going to have great teams, good teams, mid-level teams, struggling teams, and crap teams. That's life.
Doesn't mean the lower-tiered teams shouldn't be there; but if there is a pattern of non-performance they should be switched out. Not sure how you do that, however, unless you have cooperation from lower leagues because some clubs have good teams at some age groups, and not-so good at others. Creates an impact on a club trying to manage their top teams across multiple platforms (I don't have an answer on best to solve that, other than to say "suck it up")
In an ideal situation, every game you play is with 1-2 goals (win or loss). From a development perspective, that's what you strive to.

Realistically, if I were one of the Gang of Three, I'd be doing everything in my power to shoot down any other league and create the aura of exclusitivity that these leagues thrive on. It lines my pockets. More power to them. I don't have to like what it's doing for me, my kid, the game here in the States, but nobody is holding a gun to my head.

Agree. It would likely result in reduced travel which is what everyone wants. Better for all the kids involved on these teams too.

ECNL won. It’s up to them how magnanimous in victory they choose to be.
DA went to war with ECNL and lost.
Let the DA parents rot...players will suffer for this.
To the victors go the spoils.

Funny part is that anyone believes ECNL as a league and clubs come out of the current pandemic unscathed. YOu're all just as f'ed as the DA clubs and you dont even know it yet.
