How many girls joined the 07 ECNL team mid-season this year?

To all new parents just getting into youth soccer. Beware of MF. Two better local ECNL clubs in the area. DA clubs also provide better training year round with more practices for cheaper cost.

            Do your homework.

Just because MFA is close to you doesnt make it the right choice for your daughter. Look at other clubs. If you want ECNL try PDA, a little less in tuition but the exposure is greater. WC is about $1k less and much better training. Plenty of DA teams around, STA is nearby, CS. Red Bulls are looking to at younger age groups to start their program. Great facility in East Hanover. Good Luck

Agreed with the last post. Try out at other clubs and if your daughter doesnt make those teams then maybe consider MFA or like another post said, maybe just burn the $4k and dont put your daughter through the torture

                  From personal experience ..I agree.

MF may work for you but only if she is a top player otherwise its not a great place for development...they have no real structure - no office, no administration, poor communication, and don't have adequate field space for all their teams to practice (hence 2x week and 2nd teams get 1/4 or less of field with up to 30 players)...

Have her go to ID sessions at several clubs and check out a game if possible to see how they coach(style of play, do girls stay in their space or do some run all over the field, do they play everyone etc) and what the parents are like...talk to the parents....see if your daughter likes the girls on the team..did they treat her well or did they freeze her out ? Find out how many girls they carry on each team...

Have gone thru this already and wish I had gotten more honest advise...but learned from my mistakes ...don't just jump at ECNL because you think its better ..its not right for everyone. Don't waste a year or two of her time when she should be having fun and developing her skills and tactics..

Youth sports as a whole has become a big business ...it is a totally different animal from
when we played (my spouse & I played D1 many years ago ..LOL)
So you need to do your homework and don't assume that every coach and/or club has
                  your best interest in mind.

Great post. Only thing I would change if your daughter is a great player she should probably be playing for PDA/WC in ECNL if she wants to play HS or STA/CSA Monmouth for better weekly/monthly exposure.

MF is really not looked at as one the elite clubs anymore. It's amazing to see that they are still the most expensive.

Excellent post! Don’t dismiss EDP teams that offer better training and development, she can always go to an ecnl or DA club around U15, not worth the time, travel and expense before that age, as many ECNL clubs do not develop talent they just acquire it.

STA yes but CSA Monmouth is a major stretch as the quality is nowhere’s near the other clubs you mentioned.

Disagree. Teams are not great but who cares about winning. Major individual talent at CSA Mon. At least US soccer and multiple D1 schools think so. Definitely CSAMon currently has the advantage over MF on elite players.

Haha Rutgers Newark and Misercordia are D1 powerhouses!

Doesn't CSA Mon have a couple of USYNT players at different ages? I know some of their kids made NTCs and camps.

MF currently have any? Didn't see any from U16 or U15. I'm sure U14 will be a blank as well for MF.
