Different even to thier own team mates in NWSL land.
Originally they had a very good case because the issue was that the women's team was being shorted by US soccer on everything. From hotel accommodations to support staff to training facilities. In the beginning the women weren't complaining about the pay regarding the WC payout. The original complaint was about the payout for the money made on the exhibition games which in 2015-207 was considerably different. When the lawyers got involved they got greedy and started asking for equal payout from all competitions which I think is not fair considering your point that the men's WC and women's WC bring in different kind of money. To the point made in the other post nobody is willing to pay to watch a second tier MLS next team but the USWNT does sell out stadiums so they should be paid accordingly and that wasn't the case.

That's why we have weight classes in boxing you can say Floyd Mayweather is the best pound for pound boxer in the world but you wouldn't put him up against a good mike Tyson in his prime because he would probably kill him. I also don't agree with the current deal where they just get half of the whole pot combined. The two teams should get a percentage of what they bring in period.
Exaclty. No one is asking Floyd to share his purse with boxers in weight classes that generate less. Unfortunately, the same as men argument is BS. The way for women to generate more money is to attack the NWSL structure. The game needs investors who buy into the prospect of returns in the future, not virtue signallers who think paying 23 women more = equality. The gap in earnings between a top player in the NWSL who is not on the WNT is as large as it has ever been. That is no helping. Lets talk about how we increase revenue and lets not ignore the elephant in the room. Men are currently subsidizing the game all over the world. Stop bashing them and collaborate. The USWNT are the most entitled group of female team athletes in the world. The US women's basketball team is far more dominant on the international stage. The total salary bill for the league is 12 MM dollars. I think Alex Morgan makes that in a year and a half.

i dont agree. the USWNT is the top of a pyramid. People would go watch no matter who is playing. They should be paid an appearance fee like the men, but they wanted salaries, health insurance, maternity leave etc. Its not apples to apples. The men dont get any of that. The NWSL are getting off with providing the bare minimum and getting praised for the advances they have made. lol. 12k to 37k is good, but lets be real it was 12k. They have gone from ridiculous to ok. Yet you have a bunch of millionaire investors and ex WNT players bragging about it. Almost every franchise has some ex WNT player acting like they are doing the world a great service !

It should all be equal in terms of benefits etc but I believe all of the men have health insurance through their pro teams while the women do not. That needed to be fixed. Hotel and travel should also be equal. There was also a debate about grass and turf field access.

But just because the women win more doesn't mean they necessarily should be paid more. The compensation is a combination of the purse + FIFA + other advertising and sponsorship revenues. The men's WC pays more when you add in the FIFA and marketing. They don't win the purse because, well, they don't win. But the purse for winning the men's championship is 4x that of the women. Again, more money in men's soccer = bigger prize and payments. If you want it based solely in performance thrn you have to remove FIFA and marketing.

FWIW the women won't win the cup this round nor the next at this rate. So how does the "they win more" justify them getting paid as much as the men?

NWSL teams pay the draw players to help get butts in seats. Attendance for most teams is pitiful. It is for most WNBA teams too. We know because of the Britney Grier that some WNBA players play outside the US so they can make more $. Dome US players are doing the same. How can owners dramatically increase pay for the lesser named players if the numbers don't justify it? Afterall, if they don't make something they will fold up shop/won't invest

You are conflating two different arguments my comment about Floyd was to differentiate men's soccer and women's soccer as two different sports and the fact that you can't compare a second division men's team to the women's national team because they play two different sports just like you can't compare Floyd to Tyson even though they're boxers because they are two different weight classes. I agree on the subsidies in Europe but don't you think that clubs are invested in women's soccer because they think they can become profitable? Barcelona vs Chelsea game last year broke record for a women's game in Europe with 72k in attendance. Seems that you are more bothered by how much some of these women are making than why they think they deserve it.

Exactly. So women have no business comparing themselves to men when it comes to sports salaries. If they can get a multi billion dollar TV deal, sell out stadiums, and convince tens of millions of little girls to buy soccer jerseys, they too will make lots of money. But now they are heavily subsidized by the men. To demand to make more without creating equivalent economic value is absurd. Of source, a couple of the women players recently said that men have an obligation to watch women's soccer as much as men's soccer and that it is sexist for them not to. So even they implicitly recognize the economic reality, but economic reality is irrelevant when they get a reception making economic demands based on "equity" and other BS concepts..

They simply demand higher pay based on "equity" just as all kinds of other people are demanding stuff based on "equity."

Yes. Fixed by their NWSL teams. The federation should not be their primary employer.

No I don't. I think the big soccer brand see it as an extension of their product. Im not bothered at all. Barcelona vs Chelsea, Arsenal vs Bayern , Barca vs Real madrid etc are not the problem. Everton vs Brighton is. Im not bothered at all. Im just pointiing out tha men are subsidizing the sport and , in my opinion, should continue to do so, but in a way that benefits far more than just a handful of International players. Seems to me like you dont get the difference between my opinion - initial losses, more planning around increasing revenue, less focus on just paying 23 players and being bothered. I want as many women to make as much money as possible from professional soccer.

The timeframe for making something does not have to be immediate.

Troll! No one mentioned race, I think you should work on your vocabulary. I think the community college has some adult classes you can take, it's never too late to learn to read.

The women didn't even allow their own teammates the same benefits the old guard had. The team was and still is filled with not nice people. Maybe ask why they held themselves out for better pay/benefits than their teammates?

Rapino et. al. created their own poop show and then sued for it.
